Leaving Kai Tak for Darwin (Read 469 times)
Dec 11th, 2011 at 6:39pm

I've decided to take the scenic route round the world, so rather than heading east from Hong Kong to Japan I'm going south to Australia.

...

I downloaded REX Overdrive a few days ago and this is the first time I've seen the amazing water textures they added!
...

Breaking the cloud layer. I've been lucky and had Beautiful weather all the way so far!
...

It was dark by the time I arrived in Darwin.

You can't see here but I've ditched the 2 outer fuel tanks. I got my range calculation wrong and was going to be forced to land early when I suddenly realised I could drop two tanks and reduce my drag enough to give me the extra distance I needed. I was over the South China Sea at the time so didn't think anyone would really mind. Wink
...

Thanks for looking  Smiley Next I will be heading South to Uluru and on to Melbourne!

Great shots. For your next trip you should take a day trip to NZ.  Wink

You must of read my mind. From Melbourne I'm heading to Milford Sound Airport to get some nice scenery shots and to see if I can get the F18 down on such a short strip! If I can't I'll land at Queenstown Airport in Frankton, Otago.

After that I'm heading up to Wellington and back to Sydney then out over the Pacific to Hawaii, with a stop off on a carrier somewhere.  Smiley

Windy Wellington. You should set it to real world weather and see if you can land. When I went there once I almost got blown over. (In real life) Grin

Cool shots and livery..........your shots appear to be edited though Undecided

There's an Edited Screenshot forum for shots that have been altered Wink

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Nice shots! I've had to drop the empties to clean it up a bit too, expect I don't always have the luxury or courtesy to drop them in the middle of the sea. Until the FsxAA come knocking on my door I'll continue to do so. Grin

These actually aren't edited at all it's just an addon scenery I found for Kai Tak and Rex Overdrive. A few in previous legs have been auto-leved. I would still say that those are acceptable in this forum as the theme is most definitely centered around my Flight Simulator Experience, and not about the editing.

The editing that I did in previous shots has not added to the image in for example the same way that Ziggy's amazing edits are enhanced, it's more a touch of make up to enhance what is already there rather than full blown plastic surgery.

After all it isn't a competition so I don't seem how leveling an image can really matter it just make's it slight more pleasant for the viewer. Smiley

However if it is such an issue I will no long do anything to the images other then re-size them. They will all just be somewhat less colourful.

After a closer look.......these don't appear edited. I just assumed you had done the same to these as some of your others Wink

The only issue I see is where to draw the line......if any editing is allowed then what type and how much?
If we let this one go, pretty soon every shot in the showcase would be edited in some way.

I'll consult the dungeon masters on this one and see if I can get a clear answer for us Smiley

Hey Dave,

The consensus from the basement is that the only editing allowed is the addition of a border.
Any other editing is not allowed Smiley

Hey Chuck,
Thanks for asking about that for me Smiley

I feel it would be useful to look at the wording of the rules to more accurately reflect their meaning. Currently they imply anything is allowed as long as it is about 'Your Flight Simulator Experience' and current there are many shots in this section that appear heavily edited such as the amazing shots in the post 'Pushing it' by gtirob01.

I noticed that too, Dave. That's why I couldn't give you an answer myself.
The guidelines used to state that no editing was allowed......I believe that when the guidelines were re-written to allow payware elements, the rule about editing was accidentally left out.

I will look into getting it straightened out.
