I reckon it would be possible to make. We would just need two highly rotative and lightweight electric motors on each side rotor and then just use the bernouli's principle to accelerate the air coming out even more. The horizontal engines would be two or three small fanjets like the ones on the wingsuit just for forward motion and pitch stability, using TVNs...

There are two on the front and one on the back. This is a taildragger, most of the weight is above the two main wheels. The tail gear is fixed.

Yes, it's a fast plane to make... I'm already making it's fuselage. I'm about half of the canopy from the nose tip...

You'd need some pretty awesome Gyros in there for stabilization. And I'd say ducted fans would be better for engines. You don't want to give your wife 3rd degree burns when you leave for work!

Yeah, that's what I though. And jet engines won't fit there. I would either go with electric ducted fans or use the rotation of small jet engines like the ones that are in the wing suit. And try to push the bernouli principle to the limit with the duct.

Notoriously dangerous. It had 6 vertical fins for stability, and that wasn't enough

Yep I know that one. But it only has one point of thrust thus making controling it kinda like holding a plate on the other tip of a really thin pole. Mine uses two vertical thrust souces mounted in alignment with the CG and 3 horizontal thrust sources with thrust vectoring nozzles to maintain pitch stability at 0 speed. Which, using an analogy like the previous, is like holding a plate with three fingers.

I've been making some flight dynamics tests... The plane flyes pretty well, though, if you make a hard landing it will scrape its nose on the ground by pitching down REALLY slowly after touchdown...

Wow, such quick progress and its coming along very nicely. The best thing about creating your own aircraft is pure artistic license in its design. With that said any ideas for a cokpit layout?

Hey! Yeah, you can believe that! But I also make the mechanics in order for them to make sense when animating. The landing gear took me about 1 day of thinking how was I going to retract and fit the wheels inside such a small space...
I haven't thought of the cockpit yet... I made some sketches in the corner of my linear algebra book, but nothing more...

I do hope you will finish this one
.
But it looks great. It reminds me of a fiat 500 (the new one)
.
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

I love the goddamn game. Been playing it since 1999 'till today.
I actually have a few renders of wipeout ships models I made in my deviant art gallery:

But, yeah, it kinda looks like them!
And hyperpep, don't worry, I'll finish this one. I'm only moving slower because of the final exams in college.

What a great little Sci-Fi aircraft, I love those. That exterior model is excellent, and the textures are producing a nice metallic/military impression. Do you plan to add a VC to it ?

since this would be a "normal man's" aircraft.

When I say like the Orca, I mean with the same HUD style and stuff like that. The controls are going to be similar to those of the S-4A prototype (If you don't know it just search simv for S-4A Prototype)

Nope, VTOL plane. You have to lower the flaps in FS to make it take off vertically...
And I still have exams until next monday, so no play time until there....

Back to work on the "beast"!
Textured most of the exterior. Only the landing gear and stuff related to that is left to be mapped and textured. Also some details I haven't added yet. I've also been playing around with the bump map.
Next stop: Cockpit
The flight characteristics are nice too. Though when you land it seems like the plane has landed on a pillow and, after touching down and stoping the plane, it slowly rotates to the "rest" position.

Yeah, but I was lucky my father had a copy with license for his work. He didn't use it anymore and I didn't know about this until around one year ago.
It's not the latest version, it's actually kinda old: Max 8. I actually found it when I was storing some computer related stuff in the attic. My father didn't even remembered he had it! lol
Thanks!

You actually are in luck - Max 8 was the last version supported by the FS-X SDK tools.
You can also now use the Lockheed Prepare 3D (henceforth known as P3D) SDK .... P3D is the FS-X core (originally Microsoft's ESP) with MAx8 (and higher)
