Well, following my Hard Drive failure on my intel core duo iMac, subsequent repair then seemingly total failure (unknown as to why, after reinstall in ran great for about 4 days!!) i now have a 'Unibody' iMac, Core i5, with a AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6750M - so after splitting the drive so i can run windows 7, and reinstalling everything id lost, including fs9, i reasoned it might, just might, run FSX.....

By golly does it ever Cheesy Almost maxxed out, its seemingly smooth but does suffer from the occasional 'stutter' which i havent found the solution to just yet in spot view. VC view is fine however so its defo flyable.. Cheesy

I did do a load of .cfg tweaks that i found in various places but it just ruined it, so i let fsx build a new cfg and all appears well, although i think theres a few things i can do with it, maybe....

So a few preliminary tester shots 'cos i was hoping to have everything up and running in time to enter this months competition, and im almost there Cool

FSX, Acceleration, HDE clouds, a bit of scenery and that Dassault Rafale, plus the F-18 from acceleration. And thats as far as ive got with it Wink

Never having actualy 'flown' in FSX until now as previous computers just couldnt handle it, im quite impressed Wink

Excellent ! Nice to see you coming to the dark side Wink
I would recommend you two things right now:
1- get the "Sludge Hornet" freeware mod for that default Acceleration Hornet, it will make it even better Smiley
2- get the freeware OrbX PNW demo, which covers the whole Olympic peninsula West of Seattle, for enjoying your slower birds Smiley
You'll love them.

Nice shots!  And as to the shaking in spot view, that's just a screw up where the momentum effect on the camera is just trying to get every single tiny movement.  If you haven't already figured out that A switches views through a cycle, and the S switches the cycle, then you can find some interesting stuff.
All you have to do is press A while in the outside view until you get to locked spot.  In locked spot, it won't jiggle, and the camera doesn't fly past at 700 KIAS if you do something like pause.

But I see you can now have some fun like me! Smiley
Though I would suggest not roasting your hornet like I did. Roll Eyes

Have fun! Wink

The following is about help on installation for the sludge hornet, so if you've had nothing to do with administrator permission or the Sludge Hornet, you don't have to bother reading the below. Tongue
And at anyone, I had a small installation problem with the Sludge Hornet.  When I run the installer, it says I don't have administrator permission, and when I press continue, it just keeps popping back up with no progress, so the only other option is quit which shuts off the installation.  I am the computer's owner, so does anyone know how I give it the "administrator permission" that it needs?
I'm running Windows (I'm not sure what version, all i know is that it's windows)  and I have a Compaq CPU.
Thanks for any help! Smiley

What about right-clicking on the EXE icon and selecting "run as administrator" ? Do you get the popups with that technique too ?

I don't remember it appearing when I tried it, but I'll try it again.  Thank goodness I saved teverything anyway. Wink
Edited:
IT WORKED!!! Smiley
And I figured iout that it will apparently only have run as administrator appear if I save it and open it from the saved location. Tongue
Thanks! Wink Smiley Wink

Lookin' good Shocked Cool

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

and judging by the fact it looks like he already made a paint for it on that F/A-18, I'd say he's learning the art of FSX fast. Smiley

Whoops, when I was thinking the only default paint that was white didn't have a black nose, I forgot about the NASA one. Embarrassed
