Nothing like jumping on a bandwagon. Od course the very lean RAF has quite a lot of Hawk T1s now the T2 has arrived, so the fact it's been out of production (for quite some time), is, at best, pointless. It all depends how long BAES will support the legacy Hawk, which considering the number of rich countries have it, may not be a big factor. Add to that the fact that the Reds are two thirds RAF PR and one third BAES sales tool, then I think this story really is jumping on RAFAT's recent bad luck. Huh

It wasn't the aeroplane that I thought they would be changing. Though it still wouldn't surprise me if they added new regulations to air displays given the incidents this year.

The Tucano would make sense as a replacement, given that it's the Hawk Trainer-Trainer, but it's not British.

How about a Spitfire/A380/Concorde? I think we need a petition  Wink

Ahhh, this is easier. Sorry for bad SPG in my previous replies - both typed on the phone!

A lot has been made of the replacement of the Hawk T1 at Valley with the T2, and how the Reds will continue once it's been retired. As it is of course, 100 Sqn retain the T1, and now the rest are being phased out of the system (a not very busy system at the moment!) at Valley, airframes and spare can't really be a long term issue.

Neither was during a display, and there's a strong chance both were freak accidents - certainly the latter should have no effect at all.

Very torquey and would be a lot more difficult for close formation aerobatics! Also it's due to disappear before the Hawk T1 ultimately goes. Pilatus PC21 however... Wink

It is not called "The Barge" for nothing. Although it did cure a friend of mind from his attachment to his (very bad) sirup. It departed from it's nesting place half way up the wire and fluttered gently to the ground. When he got back down, it was nailed to the board that had the pilot roster on it. There it stayed and he went alfresco from that day forth Grin Grin
