Goodly afternoon all... Smiley

Thought some of you might find this interesting:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waldo_Waterman

Waterman (1894-1976) was an airplane engineer with a flair for creative design.  Figuring that most people couldn't afford both an airplane and a car, and believing that the car was a necessity of modern life, Waterman set out to build a car that could be turned into an airplane.  The result was the "Arrowbile", a small plane with wings that could be detached in a few minutes.  Much of the vehicle was made with standard car parts, and in fact a normal Studebaker engine powered the wheels (when in car mode) and the propeller (when in airplane mode).

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

Hi Chuck... Smiley

Yes and it is a lot of fun to bash about the puffy wuffies in.

I love having the two cockpits and the steering wheel...well what can I say.

Not sure if the horn works, will have to try it.   Grin

I think I saw a real one of these at Oshkosh years ago. The owner drove it out to the runway, made the conversion, then took off. And wasn't there a show back in the 50's where as part of the opening credits, the star flew one of these to his office?

Hi CaptainCub... Smiley

Not sure about either of those flights or what happens to the wings when you turn it into a car.
I would think they would stay at an airport but not sure... Smiley
