I know I haven't been heard from around here in a bit, but here I am again....and although I don't have any fall colours to show like Doug, or a new camera to show off its abilities, I can show you how my Sunday morning went after an early call from my friend Hal. Some older members here will remember my fortunate exploits with him in an RV-6, in a Piper Vagabond and even a ride in a Super Stearman.....well, this one was just his truck(172), as he calls it - that's him putting his new RV-3 back in the hangar beyond the Cessna.....on with it now, ...enjoy.....
The day started early, and a little overcast - more or less a gray day......
Heading out towards Comox Lake, things are starting to brighten, but still ....gray...
And finally, a burst into the open where the colours show the beauty of our area....
To the north of the Beaufort, the high level of the terrain is starting to develop the well known winter blanket of white.............
Flying a low approach to the Comox Glacier from the north and into the sun.....
Dancing around the snow caps, we can see there is some fresh white up here.........
Approaching the Glacier from the back side, we see clouds in the sun over the mainland..........
It's always a nice day when you get above the clouds..........looking back to the island during the return from Powell River..........

Say, while I think about it, what ever happened to that big Mars Flying Boat out your way?
Did you buy it and turn it into your very own private boat?...
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Sorry Matt, only a tent in the back, but the reality is that the rainy season is upon us now....have to wait for the spring for a real good visit, unless of course, you are a skier.....

Doug, as far as I know, they only have one "in service" Mars now. They will give tours during the summer season for the one they have on the back of the apron, but I think they are now scavenging that one for parts.....bit of a shame.....operating cost must be a big factor and availability of parts to keep even the one of them in the air will be a drawback.....

Doug, I'd trade in a flash for some of the fine venues you present to us - I can assure you that your attendance with your camera at the fly-ins you visit brings many a smile to my face and the face of everyone else......Thank YOU !

Amazing pictures Ken!
Reminds me how much I miss flying over the mountains... especially the flights I did around the island. Not much scenery out here in the prairies...
Cheers,

I'm just waiting on the money from the insurers following that Polish incident of mine.
I'll then hold out till around Xmas to pick up a nice ZX9R C1-E1 in metallic blue to fill the void...
I just want something that'll spank the enemy

Wonderful shots Ken. I normally do not care for black & white but #2 really tickled my fancy.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
