Dont know if this is in the correct place so please move if its wrong  Wink

Basically i have a helicopter in fs9 that visually doesn't show the helicopters rotors moving fast enough, no matter how much throttle i use. Other helicopters do show them moving as i imagine they would i.e kind of blurred as i add throttle.

Therefore if i take a screenshot its like the engines are stopped. Or like im using a slow shutter speed!

Can i change out the textures with the rotors from another helicopter that does have this effect to fix this or is this something that cannot be changed?

Or is there somthing in the .cfg i could alter to increase the rotor speed?

Looking at the textures, they look similar in both helicopters...

Sorry, i dont know much about modelling helicopters but i presume it works on the same principles as the props on fixed wing aircraft.

Well i figured i can slow down the rotors with "prop_anim_ratio=" but nothing seems to speed them up so i guess this might be throttle related...... Undecided

Obviously the stop/slow rotor bmps are working but not the fast blur rotor bmp. i think anyway Cheesy

I might try swapping out the cfg for one that does work and see what happens!

Ok, sorry, heres two to compare. both from here, both seakings.

One has the 'correct rotor' effects and the other seemingly doesnt!!

http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=SEAKINGHAR3A.zip&fileId=21807

http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=RAFYELLOWSK.zip&fileId=21743

Both appear to be by the same person, although i see one appears much larger than the other in the sim....one has nice textures but not so good rotors, the other is a little dull but has the correct rotors!!!

Ive tried many things and can speed up the rotors of the slow one but not much else!

Is it in multiplayer the rotors appear not to be moving? Just there is an issue with effects in MP Wink

Try changing the choice of effect file for the rotor and see if that cures it Wink

Ive tried that Undecided

Seems it never uses the 'rotor in motion' bmp on this copter, see this shot. As you can see the blades look like this (but obviously rotating in the sim) all the time. The other similar sea king does have the blur.....

...

Sorry its a rubbish shot but it makes it look like the rotors have stopped! Grin

And heres the other 'copter.

They appear to be very similar and going by the read me and so on appear to be by the same person with different textures. Ive yet to run all these textures through DXT.bmp to make them 32bit but note the rotor difference......I must be missing somthing or maybe its just how they are supposed to be!!!

I don'y see any pics??

Why are you making them 32 Bit...it compressed that won't improve the quality my may slow up texture loading between the different roter speed textures.

Are the actual .MDL files the same??

No pics! They are there i think  Wink

I like to run some of the textures through DXT.bmp just to experiment! My iMac handles them just fine even with all the textures at 32-bit, but i leave some at 16. Me just faffing  Smiley

The rotors ive left alone, just swapped out with some different ones thats all!

Ive not looked into the mdl files, as im going into unchartered territory for me with things like that and wouldnt really know what im looking for, but would you suggest swapping them about and seeing what happens?

for those that dont know, you are talking about the FS2004 SEAKING.   now. with that being said.  I downloaded both.  Tried the SeaKingHar3A.zip and yes you can tell that there is no Blur Texture in the rotors.  It was not modeled for that.  Sorry.   When the textures were made, they did not include that. Now, if you want to try and make some of your own, or import some you can try, but me personally and honestly, i dont think they will work, but you can feel free to try.

Also, on the SeaKingHar3A... OMG THAT IS A FLYING BRICK!!!!!! Id rather fly the default 206! At least in the 206 you can control it.  this SeaKing is a Floating Cinder Block.  Straight to the Trash can it goes.

Ok cheers! Yes they dont fly very well but i wanted one for a screenshot.....i cant be doing with flying helicopters, especially ones that just spin all over.....

Ive tried adding textures, to no avail, changing the ones in the texture folder for spinning ones and it makes no difference Undecided

Ah well, onto somthing else now!

Thanks for taking the time to have a look, its appreciated. And ive learnt a little about helicopter.cfg's in the process, so i suppose thats a good thing Wink

I don't usually post for this sort of thing as i usually find the answers are already out there - but this one i couldn't fathom!

If it is Helos that you fancy, could i possibly talk you into Hovercontrol?  Not to take away from this site, but for helos, Hovercontrol pilots know their stuff.  I am a "Certified Pilot" with them, and fly anything with a rotor (or a wing at times) with them all the time.  Great group of guys.
