Good morning all... Smiley

On thursday August 18th I think it was this dang electronic gizmo went and crashed... Roll Eyes

All I could get was a black screen with purple lines and it would not start in Safe Mode no matter what I did.

With no grandchildren or our own children around, the old girl down in Boston, United States for a visit I was left alone to figure it out.

I had several choices:
(1)  Buy a new computer which I did not want to do until
the new Microsoft Flight comes out.
(2)  Bash it with a hammer.
(3)  Throw it off the balcony of this condo into the river.
I figured it was only thirty feet or so and I was sure
it would clear the sail boats masts.

Well a good friend saved this electronic gizmo as he talked me into calling another friend who always helps me out when this thingy goes into orbit.

The first thing he said to me was "is it at the bottom of the river Doug?".... Grin

He came right over and hauled this electronic gizmo away for several days.

First he thought it was a virus, it was not and I do virus checks every day.
Well it came to being a Driver which downloaded automatically and it ran fine at his computer shop however after he left it did the same thing again after I turned it back on.

He took it back again and finally I ended up replacing Vista
with Windows 7 which I am trying to figure out.

Well he ordered me a new Video Card (EVGA 580 GTX) which will be here next week along with something else...not sure but this electronic gizmo should be up and flying soon.

It will get me through until I see what I want to do when Microsoft Flight comes on line.

I will try to take a look at some pictures you folks have posted shortly and believe me I missed seeing them although I did manage to spend everyday at the bugsmasher field with a bunch of other Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezers who told some of the tallest tales you would want to hear... Grin

The old girl and a couple of other nattering nannies will be home Sunday so I got some time on my hands to figure out this Windows 7.
It seems I lost all my contacts for my e-mail which has not changed and it will take time to figure out this new program... Smiley

Have a great day everyone... Wink

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Flew off your rocker? So that's how you add a sense of motion to your sim... suppose you'll be replacing it with a wobble chair.
Glad to see you've got your disputer operating again.

Cool

Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

Hi Doug,

Thought you'd flown off somewhere or something. Good news that you're back online. You'll find 7 is heaps better than Vista once you get used to it. Runs much smoother Wink

Thanks for the comments folks... Smiley

I lost all the Freeware Add-ons I had for FSX so it will take several days to find them and download again if I do it.

Perhaps will just wait for Microsoft Flight or try that new one I see here...Flightgear I think it is.

FlightGear is excellent, a most remarkable piece of freeware and a nice selection of add-ons. Well worth a go Wink
I'm waiting for the new X-Plane rather than Flight, I've become a bit of a convert since getting 9 and the realism is superb! Only problem is not enough freeware add-ons...

Goodly morning again... Smiley

Will not have my new video card until tuesday I hope.

Was wondering if the aircraft detail in Flightgear is as good as the aircraft for FSX?

X-Plane 10 is looking to be incredible!  Now that I have actual hard drive space, I will be looking to get 9 soon.

Hey Doug.

I was wonderin' what you were up to........your witty dialogue was noticeably missing Smiley

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"
