I have to agree with Doug (Flying Trucker) that there are so many wonderful additions to MSFS available for free from so many wonderful people. What a great gift to everyone. Case in point: AlphaSim made a great model of USS Enterprise (CVN-65, not NCC-1701  Wink ), which they then made available as a demo for free. Granted, the decks are bare, and the pay model does stuff the free one won't, but by populating the decks with other great freeware and installing the 3-Wire carrier-ops files, the effect can be quite satisfying, as these pics of night ops aboard afore-mentioned Enterprise might show.

Thanks, Doug. I do appreciate it.

This is a lot of AlphaSim/Virtavia stuff.
AlphaSim: Enterprise, F-4 Phantom (pack 1), A-3 Skywarrior, RA-5C Vigilante
Kazunori Ito: A-4 Skyhawk, A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair II
There's an E-2 Hawkeye and a C-1 Trader on board as well, though I don't think they showed up in any of those pics, and I don't remember who did them other than that they are adapted from FS2002.

If I were going to do it really, really right, I'd make sure all the aircraft were from the same Air Wing, but that's a lotta repainting.  Smiley

Okay, the E-2 does show up in the first pic. I parked it in front of the island. The A-5 is behind the island, so you won't see it here, and the C-1 is blocked from view by the JBD.

Where did you get that VF-151 Phantom paint?

Don't ask an aviator if he flys fighters.  If he does he'll tell you, if he doesn't why embarass him.

It was done by Gus Robatto, who has done a number of fine, fine paints for the F-4, including VF-151 and VF-161. (See my "Flying Rocks" post http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1312957088) I've only seen them on Avsim, though they may be available other places. My dad served on Midway in the 70's (not as an aviator), so these two squadrons and the Phantom led to my first serious case of childhood airplane lust.

When in the 70s?  I was a RIO with 151 from March of '78 to November '80.

Very cool......great shots Cool Cool

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

I figured you had to have some association. As dark as those pics are, no one without a close familiarity with those markings would have recognised them as VF-151. My dad was in the ordnance department aboard Midway '71-'73 when she was still homeported in Alameda. Right after he left for the P.G. School in Monterey, Midway left for Yokosuka.
