Can you hear any sound through them?
Or is it just the people you can't hear?

In your SETTINGS/Sounds make sure the voice box is checked and set the slider at 50%, and if it works than adjust the slider for volume control.

Also, you don't say if your using a headset/mike combo or a headset and a standalone mike, so you might have a system problem and not an FSX problem. You can go into your PC control panel and click on  Sounds and Audio Devices and run a mike/sound  test from there.

years ago when i played online with fs98 and roger mike, there was an individual test that you had to do to configure the sound for online comms, does the comms package your using have  setup where you test it?

There is one other thing I've thought, please don't take this wrong, but have you plugged into the headphone socket?

With many pc's there are other sockets related to sound but what is known as impedance maybe wrong on the socket your using.

You might be plugged into line out or line in.
In some cases you may get low sound from the line out.
It's worth checking as you may have a pc with surround sound capabilities.

Look at the plugs on your headphones, on 'modern' pc's/laptops, the microphone in/sound out for headphones have a coloured ( colored) socket that must match the color of the plugs on your headphones plugs.

Check sound settings in control panel.

Okay it might be some conflict issue. Try setting your sounds to 1/2 duplex rather than full Wink
