So here is the new PC:

Asus - Essentio Desktop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 8GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive

Processor Brand
Intel®

Processor
Intel® Core™ i7

Processor Speed
3.4GHz

Cache Memory
8MB on die Level 3

System Memory (RAM)
8GB

Type of Memory (RAM)
DDR3

Graphics
NVIDIA GT 530

Video Memory
2GB

Those are the important details anyway. So I bought that yesterday along with a clean copy of FSX (didn't have the discs anymore). I got the computer up and running, windows updated, etc., and then got FSX installed. With no add-on scenery I was able to run it completely maxed out with 24 FPS set as my target frame rate. I can't wait to see once I get REX, GEX, UTX, etc., installed and see how it runs.

I followed NickN's tutorial for nVidia Inspector and for some reason it's still blocky looking a bit, but it isn't on my old PC, so I'll just get my settings off that.

Anyway, I think I'm going to be pretty happy with this.

Awesome PC!

I'm just curious, around what FPS do you get at LAX with maximum settings?

I'll check it and let you know. I'm still installing addons (REX, GEX, UTX, etc.). Right now in Europe, with all the addons installed and literally every single slider maxed (including cars, boats, etc.), it hums right along at 24 FPS without budging (which is what I have set as the target, and which, incidentally, is what a TV gets, so I see no reason to go higher). It's absolutely amazing!

Well just for you I tested it out. I turned off car and boat traffic but maxed everything else, airline and GA traffic included, and it was running between 24 and 33-34, no bumps, no nothing. Smooth as can be.

Yep, and I'm talking everything flat-out maxed. I'm super excited. I had a 2.66 Ghz quad core 32-bit system with 4GB of ram before, and I was able to move the sliders up decently and get 24 FPS over unpopulated areas, but this is a whole new ballgame - the cars, the boats, the landscape and everything, it's pretty insane. I'll see if I can get a screen shot later.

And PS, I got this system at Best Buy for $829. A steal if you ask me. It's the Asus on their website.
