I was loading one add-on airplane after another when I noticed that the thumbnail pictures of available airplanes in the "current aircraft" menu didn't match the captions.

About half way thru the list, it seemed like everything had been shifted "out of sync" by one airplane.  That is, the caption that obviusly went with a picture of an airplane was actually under the airplane just to the right of the correct match.  I can even identify the point where the mix-matches begin, which is where I loaded a "Curtiss-Gooupil "Duck," but the thumbnail image is actually that of the "Curtiss Hawk 75" which is next in line on the menu.  After that, all the images and captions are out of sync.

When you click on an image, what you get to fly is not what the image shows, but what the caption says.

It's not that big of a deal for me, but my grandkids love to play with FSX, and they're going to get frustrated if they can't pick out which airplanes they want to fly.

FWIW:  My wife's family could not get her 92-year-old father to touch a computer until I brought FSX over with a P-47 loaded up.  Among other fighters, he flew P-47N's in the Pacific.  The Razorback on FSX was close enough to get him to show a few things to his great-grandkids (aka my grandkids).  Good things happened all around.

(This is my first post, so if you're offering some help, please kjeep in mind that I'm a newbie and may not understand some of the concepts or terminology that you may be very familar with.)

Find the aircraft where the "shifting" begins, and check the texture folder of that aircraft.  It's probably missing it's thumbnail.  Creat one, and that should solve the problem.

Welcome to SimV, Broshear Smiley

I think what's goin' on is that some of the aircraft you downloaded do not have "thumbnails" included in the files. Inside the aircraft folder there will be a "texture" folder (in some cases many texture folders), inside the texture folder/s there should be a "thumbnail" image of the aircraft. This image is what FSX uses to display the aircraft in the selection menu. In some cases, if there is no thumbnail, the aircraft will not display, but, will be in the selection menu with another aircrafts image above it. So, go through your recent aircraft downloads and figure out which ones don't have thumbnails.....then you can make your own by taking a screenshot and then sizing it down and renaming it "thumbnail". Then you just stick it in the appropriate folder and the aircraft should display in the selection menu Smiley

I hope this helps......

Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"
