I notice that the default C-182S and the C-172 significantly under perform the published performance figures in regard to cruise speed, service c3eiling, fuel consumption, take-off distance, and just about every other category.

I plan to try to correct these problems to the extent possible if necessaary.

But, I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel and if someone has already done the work on new .air and .cfg files then I'd like to use them and save myself a whole bunch of work and time.

Has this already been  done ?

If you know of any replacement files please let me know.

Thanks,

I did make an effort to make the default C182 behave better, some time ago, but then I abandoned the defaults altogether for well made add-ons.

If you want the slightly changed Aircraft.cfg I have of the default C182, just tell me your E-mail, but know that my success was limited (behaves a lot better than default, but not really like a C182.... let's just say that instead of behaving like a prop driven F16 with a malfunctioning FBW, I managed to restart the FBW, dampening the answers of ailerons and especially the rudder. Its responsiveness is still brutal, if compared to the real thing, but much more controllable at least than the factory-fresh model) and I don't think I will touch it anymore.

The default C172 instead will benefit IMMENSELY from the use of the free FD upgrade from Realair, here: http://www.realairsimulations.com/list_box.php?page=downloads making it become as good as a payware, almost.

PS
I suggest you to abandon -ship- the defaults as well and find some better add-on plane, even freeware. The defaults are really good only for AI use, no matter the version of FS. Wink

There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.
