I was looking through my archive of planes, and I found Yannick Lavigne's Falcon 50. I got a paint kit for it and repainted it. The problem is my repaint doesn't show up in FS! I named my new repaint folder TEXTURE.lzdoy (fictional livery). The first 2( 0,1) .cfg sections are for the base textures that come with the package. Here is the aircraft.cfg:

[fltsim.0]
title=Falcon50full
sim=Fal50caea2
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=Fal50caea2_CHECK
kb_reference=Fal50caea2_REF
atc_id=F-CAEA
ui_manufacturer=Dassault
ui_type=Falcon 50
ui_variation=full
visual_damage=1
description=Dassault-Aviation/Falcon 50/1976/ full model including virtual interior

[fltsim.1]
title=Falcon50light
sim=Fal50caea2
model=light
panel=light
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=Fal50caea2_CHECK
kb_reference=Fal50caea2_REF
atc_id=F-CAEA
ui_manufacturer=Dassault
ui_type=Falcon 50
ui_variation=Light
visual_damage=1
description=Dassault-Aviation/Falcon 50/1976/ light model without virtual interior

[fltsim.2]
title=Falcon50Bulgarianfull
sim=Fal50caea2
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=lzdoy
kb_checklists=Fal50caea2_CHECK
kb_reference=Fal50caea2_REF
atc_id=LZ-DOY
ui_manufacturer=Dassault
ui_type=Falcon 50 Bulgarian
ui_variation=LZ-DOY Full
visual_damage=1
description=Dassault-Aviation/Falcon 50/1976/ full model including virtual interior

[fltsim.3]
title=Falcon50Bulgarianlight
sim=Fal50caea2
model=light
panel=light
sound=
texture=lzdoy
kb_checklists=Fal50caea2_CHECK
kb_reference=Fal50caea2_REF

ui_manufacturer=Dassault
ui_type=Falcon 50 Bulgarian
ui_variation=LZ-DOY light
visual_damage=1

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I cannot get that package to work at all - it freezes my FS2004 system after I select either the full or light versions.

According to the documentation this "base" package is for FS2002 - with no mention of it working in FS2004.

The file I got was named Fal50c2.zip

BTW - Nothing I could see "wrong" with your aircraft.cfg file - at least nothing obvious jumped out at me.

There was a warning that some features may be incompatible; the fssound.dll (placed in the Module folder), made for FS98, was specifically mentioned during sim load up. I first tried the acft by blocking the features (selected "no"), then restarted FS9 and selected yes: the acft was in the menu both times but I only put it in the air with the latter selection.

Which repaint .zip did you download?

I didn't download a specific repaint. I made the repaint lzdoy. Never had problems with repainting other planes before.

Please type in your new variation names and try again:

panel=light
sound=
texture=lzdoy
kb_checklists=Falcon50c2
kb_reference=Falcon50c2_REF
atc_id=F-CAEA
ui_manufacturer=Dassault
ui_type=Falcon 50
ui_variation=lzdoy
visual_damage=1
description=Dassault-Aviation/Falcon 50/1976/ light model without virtual interior

That looks quite convincing. What about the full variation?

lzdoyfull in [fltsim.3] and reference accordingly... (I match my folder and file names to more readily locate them should I need to).

are you saving your textures in "extended DXT3 format? or as .bmp's???? FS wont read aircraft textures as .bmp.

Huh
Not sure to what you refer... the .mdl specifies .bmp in the texture name, thus expects it; don't see a difference in that respect from CFS1 (or FS98). If the original textures were .bmp files but the names in the .mdl had no file extensions listed, the textures would still display as long as the extensions were removed from the names of the texture files. This is to say, whatever the .mdl asks for a texture name must be given to the actual texture for it to be applied.

...
This is the Texture folder with .bmp textures. These aren't ndoynov's... did a fast retexture using his designation.

...
Falcon50, lzdoylight in FS2004 menu (please see note above).

Selected Falcon50, lzdoylight sitting on runway.

Selected Falcon50, lzdoylight in flight.

What he means is a BMP format that FS can read, not the 24-bit format that most graphics editors use.

This is irrelevant if the repaint is not listed on the selection menu. ndoynov wrote on Jun 14th, 2011 at 8:47pm:

Sorry for my density, quite true (see below). I usually increase the resolution and work in 16M/24-bit, converting to 256/8-bit textures (mostly for FS98/CFS1 in my case) when complete.

This is mainly why I didn't comprehend Prop's comment. A repaint isn't apt to display if it doesn't have it's own name -- the computer will usually ignore it and opt for the default selection.

Unlike FS98/CFS1, FS9 uses high resolution textures, typically 1024 x 1024 x 16-bit or 32-bit in Extended BMP format.

The Aircraft.cfg title= name shouldn't make any difference providing it's different to other variations of the aircraft. The names of the different variations are defined in the ui_xxxx sections of Aircraft.cfg. For example:

ui_manufacturer=Dassault
ui_type=Falcon 50 Bulgarian
ui_variation=LZ-DOY Full

It would help to know which version of the Falcon 50 ndoynov is using so someone can download it & check it out.

looks to me by the pictures supplied, that all has be straightened out.  I can see by "fus1.bmp" that it IS showing properly in the sim.  Nice work; a bit blurry, (but that is just FS9 for you) but still VERY NICE WORK!
