Goodly morning all... Wink

Quick question:  Is Prepar 3D 1.1 any way related to the new Microsoft "Flight" that is supposed to be being developed?

http://www.prepar3d.com/

As Prepar 3D 1.1 is already on the market for anyone I believe, then am I correct in assuming that Microsoft "Flight" is a more refined product still under development?

Doug, Prepar3D is FSX, revised. MS sold it to Lockheed Martin and they are using it as a professional training sim. It has nothing to do with Flight.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Looks to me like the FSX they are reported to have purchased from M$. (note that it says
The Lockheed Martin Prepar3D® team has continued to improve the core ESP™ product while maintaining compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) allowing the many thousands of addons to be used within Prepar3D®.
)

Cannot believe anyone will pay $499 as it is now but it's going to be interesting to watch that space ....

It's built on Microsoft ESP, which was released in 2007, and is basicaly the FSX SDK.

It provided a licensed platform to develope pc simulation software  independant from FSX...

ESP SDK which is essentially the FSX SDK:

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

I think they did add a few features, like "hot" weapons and submersible "flight" using subs and RPV's.  I'm guessing that's only the tip of the iceberg, too.
