Every time I try to burn restore DVDs, I get through the first two DVDs fine. But as soon I insert the third DVD, it tries to start burning and then I get this error:

"An exception error occurred during the burning progress. DVD-3 needs to be burned again. Please insert a blank writable DVD."

The DVD burner is fine because I have turned right around and started the entire process over and again, it burns the first two DVDs fine (using a DVD that it just said wouldn't work), and again, I get the error on the third DVD. I have waisted 6 blank DVDs trying to do this and am getting very frustrated. I haven't done anything to the recovery partition; I couldn't if I wanted to. So that shouldn't be a problem. Can anyone tell me exactly what that error message means?

Yeah, I had the same problem with my G73JH, I just skipped it, too much headache with this Asus crap, their programs are awful.

But have a look here, maybe this can be of help to you:

BTW, do you have FSX on it?

Yes I do. Works...okay I guess, but was less problematic on XP.
