I just purchased a 1 TB external drive. I want to move my FSX onto it as my memory on my desktop is almost full; I run a lot of add-ons!
I know I have to uninstall FSX then reinstall onto the ex-drive. My question is, what happens to my add-ons? Do I have to manually reinstall them?

Undecided

That would be a really stupid thing to do, USb is a lot slower than your sata interface and would only make matters worse as everything would be accessed a lot slower. Go buy another internal drive and then copy the fsx folder there and delete the old copy ( only the fsx folder and all in it), then run the fsxpath repair tool, You will still have to reinstall all your addons no matter which path you take.

I tried that very same thing, but 'test drove' first.  The external does not address at near any respectable rate(s) as mentioned.  It was epic-fail for me.

However!  I moved a few big things to the 1TB EHD, left FSX where it should be, and that did help a lot.
