Hey all.

After a long time confined to a laptop after my old system died dramatically, I finally have a computer I can use for FS.

Naturally, having been running FS9 before I'd like to jump up to FSX. The system is decent and I am going to grab a new graphics card too so I hope to be able to run some decent graphics.

Therefore I was wondering if someone would be able to let me know of what is suggested to download to add to my sim to get me going. I had a whole world of weather, traffic, scenery addons for the old sim and I loved the way it looked!

If someone could let me know of some decent packages I'd be hugely grateful. I have a couple of £s I can use but its a tight budget so freeware would be good but I'm sure I can extend a bit if a particular package is good enough.
Weather, scenery, traffic, lighting and anything else which will make a nice difference would be amazing.

Thanks to anyone for any help.

Sorry, I meant to say that it is the FSX Gold Package I will be installing, which has the accelleration package with it. Anything after that is what I was hoping for advice on.

Perfect Smiley

Here is a small list of the main freeware tools you might like to use in FSX:
- Bojote (Jesus) website to optimise your FSX.cfg ( http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html )
- don't use the DirectX10 preview option in FSX, too much problems with it.
- ENB bloom by Boris, same as in FS9
- OpenClouds, to download real weather
- AICarriers, to place and guide moving carriers anytime anywhere in freeflight.
- the Nimitz from Javier Fernandez, as well as the Clemenceau from the Royale French Navy, to use with AICarriers
- if you don't have a TrackIR but have a webcam, you might want to give a try to FaceTrackNoIR, which analyzes the position of your face to simulate a TrackIR
- if you like Gliders, install CumulusX! to simulate ridge lift dynamically according to terrain shape, winds direction and strengh.

Ive checked some of those suggestions out and they look fantastic. Thanks for the advice guys.

Do you know of any good traffic packs too? Theres something very lonely and wrong about flying commercial routes with hardly any traffic at the airports and to be moved around en route. I do like my traffic, I think I had 2 different packs installed in fs9, both on medium density so I had a good mixture of flights from here there and everywhere.

Thanks again

IF you fly in DirectX9 mode, then you can use the AI packages that were created for FS2004, they should work just fine with FSX. Things like World of AI, or Alpha India, etc...
But the very first thing you'll have to do about that is to READ as much info as you can on the forum. A lot of people have been trying to install AI stuff without reading first, and they ran into very obvious problems. Once you know what you are doing, installing this stuff gets really quick and easy.
