Goodly evening all...
Visiting Toronto, Ontario, Canada this year, then this World War One Flying Museum is a must to see...
http://www.greatwarflyingmuseum.com/index.html
Some great shots of aircraft on the above Link as well.
These aircraft would fly over our old homestead several times a year...
I try to visit the museum twice a year...well worth it...call ahead to see if all aircraft are there as many do airshows.
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

I once saw a WWI plane fly at Rockland, ME. It was one of those that the crankshaft was connected to the aircraft, instead of the propeller, meaning the entire engine would spin. For a throttle it basically had an on/off switch, and had just enough power to get airborne. Pretty cool to see, but not quite my idea of a fun flight.

Very cool Doug. Glad to see they are not charging vets.
Alas, I will never get to see it unless they create a virtual one on the internet.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Very interesting Doug. I see that all the museum aircraft are replicas with modern engines. Nicely done but not quite like the real thing.

That would be a rotary engine. The sound & smell is unique. The only places I know of where you can see & hear these wonderful machines in the air on a regular basis are
Old Rhinebeck, NY
&
Old Warden
on this side of the Pond.
Doug, when are you going to pay us a visit?

Good morning all...
Thanks Dave and just think about this...many old radials used Castor Oil for lubrication...kept the aviator regular...
Thanks Larry...
Hi Doug:
Thanks for those two Links...much appreciated...
The doctor will not let me travel right now, as a matter of fact I think they buggered me up back in September and October when they blasted those kidney stones.
Still in pain, almost three weeks now and waiting for another Ultra Sound.
They are pilling me to death...
We were hoping to come this summer with one of our daughters but will have to wait and see.
I will get there come hell or high water though...
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
