Ever since I watched the video Sean posted in "How much water for a Cub on floats" I've wanted to see what I could do. I'm sure Ozzy and some others could do better, but I had a ball.
I just got in the Cub and started looking for small farm ponds.
The trick is getting turned around.
Got off with room to spare.
Part II
Thanks for looking.
If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

That video had to spawn some stunts. Very nice, both sets L.T.

Wow...wonderful shots Larry...well done...
I just saw that video yesterday and there are many OFF (Ontario Flying Farmers) that have much the same set up. I am sure there are others across the country as well.
He made good use of the paddle and did you see the way he hand propped...very well done.
If you can get a Super Cub in and out it will be much easier to get a Beaver or Otter in and out...it is all in the flaps and power....
Several things I did not see which is not uncommon here is one single line of landing lights along the bank, a dock with small boat for an emergency and a picnic table to sit around and chew the rag at.
There is a OFF field about twenty miles from the old homestead, to the north and the farm is a dairy operation with almost a thousand acres. Now instead of using his flat farm land he lands and takes off from almost a 40/50 degree slope...awesome to watch. Now he put in a man made water strip at the bottom of the hill to land a float bugsmasher on and the neighbouring lads play hockey on it during the winter months. He built a unique home and hangar, they are round with pointed roofs so the snow slides off.
Just a couple of things that your pictures made me think about...
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

That sounds like a pilot's dream. I would love to see pictures of it. Video would be even better.
Also, while browsing around here and there earlier, I found where A2A had an update for the Cub. It includes a working animated paddle you use with your mouse and can go in any direction. The other part is for the tundra. It allows you to skim the water on your sandbar approach to slow down. Neatest thing I've seen in a while. Unfortunately, it's for the Accu-Sim version. I may have to upgrade.

Awesome Larry, is that meant to be a water runway?
It sure looks like it was intentionally shaped that way....cool......may I ask what scenery?
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

No, just a pond. It's PNW, somewhere east of Seattle.

Uh, that's the problem. The paddle only comes with accu-sim and I don't have that, yet.

You haven't been around long enough to see some of Ozzy's stunts. But thank you.

Ah yes, then it must be difficult to turn around indeed :/
Especially if there is a little bit of wind, turning around might get almost impossible

Actually, when I first joined there were some impressive bridge stunts of his I enjoyed
I'll have to go searching now
