Hello dear FSX addicts !

Since I purchased FSX a few weeks ago (yes, it's a bit late, but my Laptop could not handle it until I have been granted of new one by my boss), Every time I select one of the default aircrafts offered, I experience some huge variation in Frame per second measurement, something like from 24 FPS down to 5  or so and back to 24 FPs ( this every 4 to 5 seconds). This does not occur when using any "second hand created" aircraft downloaded from Simviation. Can any one of you guys tell me what causes this malfunction ?

Best Regards,

Such a fluctuation is quite strange indeed...
Perhaps it's linked to sounds ? Default aircrafts have FSX standard features such a sounds and textures that could be more heavy on the system ressources than some of the freeware planes...
But this is strange, normally you're supposed to get smoother FPS with those default planes than with anything else... excepted BOB from OrbX, of course  Grin

Hello Daube,

Sorry to get back so lately, but I was busy on something else (according to my wife my garden need more attention than flight simulation, curious ins't it ,)? anyway, it look like my problem has no evident solution, so I will keep on downloading airplane from Simviation. Grin

Ah bah j'avais pas fait gaffe non-plus  Huh Cheesy

Anyway, have you tried to monitor your hardware temperatures while you are flying with a default aircraft ? It might be that the default FSX planes are, in the end, more demanding on your hardware and might cause some instability, or something like that.... well, that's strange anyway, but I can hardly imagine the origin of your problem for the moment  Undecided

I've had the same frame rate problem from time to time. When it does happen my CPU usage is peaking at 100%. I'm pretty sure what is causing this is a hidden program running in the background. I just haven't been lucky enough to isolate which one yet.
