G'day guys,

I read once that there is an Easter Egg in Fs9 where if you watch the night sky long enough, you'll see a shooting star.

I've done my fair share of night flights - including an 11 hour long-haul from Asia to Europe in complete darkness the whole way - but have never seen it - am I missing something?  Is the rumour true?  Tongue

Yup, I've seen 'em. Freaked me out the first time too, thought I had a hardware problem! Oddly enough though, I've only noticed them when I'm flying in spot view.

In fact, here's what they look like:

I see them a fair bit, both day & night, and in cockpit or spot view. An effect can be added with the desired coordinates, mine looks like this:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<FSData version="9.0" xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance' xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd">
	<SceneryObject lat="N74 24.8651" lon="W122 6.1507" alt="25000" pitch="0" bank="0" heading="0" altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" imageComplexity="NORMAL">
                <Effect effectName="fx_shootstar1" />
	</SceneryObject>
	<SceneryObject lat="N74 24.8651" lon="W122 6.1507" alt="500" pitch="0" bank="0" heading="0" altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" imageComplexity="NORMAL">
                <Effect effectName="fx_shootstar2" />
	</SceneryObject>
</FSData>

This displays one type of shooting star at the above location at 25000 feet, and a second type of shooting star at 500 feet, at normal scenery complexity settings. Just change the location coordinates and altitude if desired, then compile as a new scenery .bgl and add inside the addon scenery folder (scenery). (The second type looks more like a fireball)
