I think it's a firm move from the team to make themselves independent of the Renault ties - in effect from now on they are just like RBR and the other "Lotus" (who've now lost the backing of the Chapman family - I assume the switch to the Fernandes "1Malaysia", or whatever, brand is not too far away...) in being a customer. In effect the "team formerly know as Renault" are now an un-named team, running under the official Lotus branding, using Renault engines, which, in the big argument over which is the "real" Lotus, actually means a lot.
