Hi,

I hope you don't mind my first post to be an announcement for an Update for our Douglas DC2 package for FSX.
As some of you might know, all profit from the purchase of this add-on go directly to the Aviodrome Museum in the Netherlands, to keep the real Douglas DC2 they own in flying condition. This is one of two DC2's left in flying condition, the only one flying regularly.

Dear customers.

On 31-12-2010, the "UIVER" Team published an update for the Douglas DC2 for FSX.

This update is free for existing customers of the Native FSX version. Just download the package again HERE, and re-install using your old key.

!!YOU DON'T HAVE TO PURCHASE AGAIN, JUST CLICK RE-INSTALL IN THE FLIGHT1 PURCHASE SCREEN!! (I don't mean to shout )

Features:

These are now the default liveries available:

Modern Aviodrome Uiver,
TWA,
Swiss Air Lines (Neutrality Colours)

FSX, with it's numerous versions, and with all hardware available out there, is quite difficult to have working for everybody in a satisfactury way.
But now all issues reported by previous customers were fixed.

Exterior:
- Some small mapping issues fixed
- Some small 3D enhancements here and there
- Small update to the flightmodel

The power cart (external power) has some enhancements for FSX+Acceleration and FSX+SP2

Interior:
- 3D modelled gauges all around
- All gauge glass have a tooltext, those gauges with more needles have split glass, in order to have appropriate tooltips for all needles
- Middle clicking the OBS knob on the old VOR1/2 gauge, will toggle the VOR1/2.
- Some 3D enhancements here and there
- Some texture enhancements in VC and cabin (check the seatbelt sign )
- Modern Bendix radio: this now has by default COM1 and NAV2, and alternatively ADF1 and NAV1 (like already implemented in the old style radio)
You can now switch the COM1 to ADF1 (click the com1 text on the gauge face. to go to adf1, and click adf1 text to go back to com1)
And you can now switch the NAV2 to NAV1 (click the NAV2 text on the gauge face to go to NAV1, and click NAV1 text to go back to NAV2)
Now all avionics in the modern VC can be tuned as well, all with 3D buttons and visibility states.

That's it basically.
We hope you will use the update, and enjoy our Douglas DC2 even more!

New customers, you will all help the Aviodrome Museum, in keeping the Douglas DC2 in flying condition, for you to enjoy in the (European) airshow circuit in the New Year, 2011!

Hi, I'm biased ofcourse.
The Uiver is not 'accusimmed' in that sence, but we do have full system simulations.
The engines can be abused, and in that case will fail or catch fire.
You can do a full, by the book, cold and dark start-up, with working external power, fuelpumps, priming, flooding carburetors, etc. Forget one step, and you must try again. (or use ctrl-e, if you're lazy)
Props can be fully feathered, and you can see the propgoverners move. Airstart of the enigines is possible too.
Fuel system is completely modelled
Switching tanks is tricky, don't forget to flick on your fuel pumps, or the engines will stall due to lack of fuel pressure.
We have a working manual hydraulics system, with manual pump, in case your hydralic pumps fail.
You can do wheels up landing. The props will bend, but the plane will not crash. (as with the real plane, that's why the wheels stick out a bit)
At night, you can see if you're flying rich or lean, by the color of the exhaust flames.
It all comes with 3 external models, plenty free repaints, 3 VC's (1 with modern avionics, 2 completely steam gauges, all fluidly animated and modelled in 3D) and a fully modelled interior, including loo Wink,and virtually anything that can be clicked , switched or moved in the real plane is animated and functional in our model.

You will not be dissapointed

The price is right, and the money goes directly to a good cause, the preservation in airworthy condition of the real plane.

Hi,
maybe should you precise that those who bought the DC2 for Fs9 and FsX (the "old" version ?) in one pack will not be able to install the update according to FlightOne statement. They told me I should buy the version for FsX only. Something I consider not particularly fair: either I bought an FsX model or not ?

Hi Felidae,

Sorry, but I feel that is actually quite obvious.
This native FSX model is compiled with the FSX SDK. This is clearly stated, also on our support forum.
The 'older' FS9 and FSX model is compiled with the FS9 SDK. When you use and FS9 model in FSX, is is considered a 'port-over' which has issues with alpha layers, showing prop-disks behind clouds etc.
Anyway, I never had complaints about this before, since you get for the native model a completely reworked plane, with full FSX possibilities. To make a new model costs an enormous amount of time, on modelling, animations, coding and texturing. It's only fair to ask money for that. Especially when our goal is to give this money directly to the Aviodrome museum, to keep the real plane flying. The latest free update is for previous customers of the native FSX version.

I hope this explains your remark.

Hi,
thanks for your clear answer. I consider your arguments as very valuable and I am ready to buy the new version and to further support the aviodrome I visited during the time I was living in Gronau/Enschede. But I never took notice before  of the necessity to buy the new version. Sorry!!Smiley
