I once found this airstrip in what I believe was the Colorado Rockies. It had a steep negative grade and was literally IN the mountains. It was a one way in, one way out strip. For the life of me I can't find it again. Any thoughts?

there is an airport exactly like this that you explain, but it is in the Himalayas. ... VNLK - LUKLA. (at least the one that i know of.) .. Below are 3 pictures that I have showing extra detail and scenery objects at lukla. Default FS9 Lukla is carved in the side of a mountain, and there is only a runway.

If you want this scenery, please pm me. If you want better screenshots or up closer, let me know and i will take some new ones and put them in the freeware section.

Hi, good views on that runway, it was featured in a program on TV here in the UK on 31/12/10, I later checked it out on FSX and they have got the runway in the wrong place compared to the mountainside.

Your runway doesn't look to be flat, I didn't think you could create runways on a slope in fs9.

Yes, the FlyTampa Lukla payware airport add-on has a sloped runway for FS2004 (fs9).

PS: You might also be thinking of the Telluride airport in Colorado.

i have no idea how someone made Lukla - VNLK, but they did, and it is a slope.

I wish that i knew how to do it, i know of a few places that I would like to put a "long jump" runway Cheesy

(steep downhill grade that scoops back up at the bottom - or at least levels out)

i found an airstrip in British Columbia. Its in a hole surrounded by waterfalls. Its pretty tricky but fun. Look on a BC map and locate REVELSTROKE. I can land with a twin Beechcraft but nothing bigger.

There is a freeware addon for FSX called Bear Camp Research by Marvin Carter here. It is a fictional research station located in the mountains north of Langley BC. It is very, very short (600') and extremely challenging.

I also suggest turning your autogen down to normal or sparse, or you will never see it in time. Don't try it in anything that is not STOL. If you overshoot, you better have some power and really good agility, as it is a box

canyon with no exit. Anything over about 60 KIAS you can forget. You will never get stopped in time, especially on skis. It has some pretty good buildings etc. and is a lot of fun. I have no idea if it will work in FS9.
