Hello all,

Flying Stations would like to announce the start of an ongoing series of new EE Canberra models for FS9 (with good FSX compatibility).  An initial freeware 'taste test' pack covering the Canberra B.2 is available until the start of December, after which it will become part of the payware line.  Two other packs, covering the B.1 prototypes and second generation bombers such as the B.6, are also now out as payware.

Along with numerous features and effects, the Flying Stations Canberra series models all include photo-real 2D panels and highly detailed virtual cockpits, gauges, and custom sound set, recorded from the ear-spliting roar of the real RR Avon engines of surviving B(I).8/B.6(mod) Canberra, WT333 based in Bruntingthorpe, UK.

Future packs will include the American-built B-57A/RB-57A, Australian B.20, Argentine B.62, along with RAF T.4s, T.17s and TT.18s to name but a few.

Full details are available at www.flyingstations.com

Stop by and check them out - if you're not familiar with the type, you're in for a treat - she's a real cold-war classic jet.

Happy flying,

Steve Beeny

Looks good. Smiley If it were also native to FSX I would be interested.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Ahh, the eternal FSX native situation.  I'll have to see about a conversion to X down the line, this one flies fairly well in X, but I understand the want of a native version.

Jets are usually not as bad as props. With jets, I think the main thing is the VC, gauges, and windows. With props, it is often all that plus the proverbial prop behind the cloud issue. I have several with that problem that would be wonderful FSX models if not for that. My biggest disappointment was with two payware aircraft that are that way. One would think a reputable builder would let you know up front. They currently have a sale on, but I'm not sure I want to spend any more money with them.

In this case it's not just a case of converting to FSX syntax in the model, it's the models themselves.  As you may well know, FS9 is saddled with a poly limit when exporting models, and so when I started the project I had to go lower poly than perhaps I would have done with X.  Later on I learned of the method to get around that, but even then, it's still not 100% foolproof and there are still issues.

So...if I end up doing an X version, it should, in fairness to the buyer, be a whole new, higher-poly build.  When you look at the standard of current X payware model VCs, you see an extreme level (in most cases!) of quality.  I'm proud of the quality I put into my FS9 Canberras, but it's got to be more for a native X build.  As I said though, even this FS9 release flies and looks pretty good in X off the bat - give it a try with the B.2 release before the freeware trial ends.

I should have read more carefully. I did not catch the 'freeware' part. Not only am I going to try the B2, but I am downloading the Swordfish, and a couple of Seahawks as well. Thanks Steve. Smiley

You're welcome, the Sea Hawk is still an all-time fave of mine, might have to revisit that for FSX next year.

The one I am most interested in is the Blackburn Buccaneer S.1. Do you have an estimate of release date, and whether it will be freeware at first?

If I told you I'd have to kill you.  No, joking aside, I don't know the release date; I know the guys are working hard on it and hopefully it'll be out before Xmas but don't quote me on it.  I don't believe it will be freeware at any point, seeing as there were only S.1 and S.2 definitive versions, that kind of trial like on the Canberra will not work too well for us.  Still, there might be a public beta, best thing to do is ask them on our forum.

The Sea Fury is coming along nicely from a screen I saw the other day, but again, no idea on release dates yet.  Best thing to do is harass them on our forum!

Reference the Buccaneer and Sea Fury.
The Bucc will probably be ready sometime in the next three months depending on how many problems I meet getting various features to work. E.g. the radar currently displays shipping targets but I haven't got land to display yet, or enabled a lock on feature to feed through to the Pilot's Attack Sight (an early form of HUD). And last night I spent about three hours writing some C code to sequence the fuel flow correctly as the standard FSX functions weren't up to it.  So it'll probably be a few more weeks before I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and get a more accurate release date.
The Sea Fury will ironically probably be available sooner despite only really starting on it a few months back!  Basically she just needs some final external mapping done and a VC built, the lack of complex systems to model or second cockpit make it, relatively speaking, an easier aircraft to do.  Mind you we haven't got a flight model yet...

Hello all old and new Canberra pilots!

Well, me again flogging the proverbial dead horse.  I'm pleased to announce the next installment of the ongoing Canberra series for FS9 is ready for download at the still princely sum of $10.00 USD from the link below. This pack forms the fourth in the series, following on from the B.1, B.2 and Bomber Power packs recently released, and covers the T.4, T.11/19. T.17 and much-loved TT.18. The models all feature the same quality you've (hopefully!) seen so far, along with working winch gear, opening hatches, bays and more. You can download the new pack at the link below:

Pilot's Notes are available in PDF from the main download page, and an ongoing support thread has been set up on our forum here:

Repaints will be coming out very soon via our web site, as will a paint kit.  Thanks to all for your continued interest and happy training!

Hola to all old and new Canberra pilots!

Flying Stations is pleased to announce the next installment of the ongoing Canberra series for FS9. This pack forms the fifth in the series, following on from the B.1, B.2, Bomber Power and Tugs and Trainers packs recently released.  This pack is the  first of three packs dedicated to overseas sales of the Canberra, starting with South American bomber canopy versions, and covers the B.Mk.62, T.Mk.64,  B(I).52/82 and T.Mk.74 of the Argentine, Venezuelan and Peruvian air forces. Models now feature lightened VC glass, more accurate red-tint night-lighting for  2D panels, an autopilot, and a revised 'parked parts' system to beat the MP/FSR bug some users experienced.
