I thought this was interesting. I know of a few colleges who wouldn't hesitate to use Dartmouth's mascot.

Use and/or abuse it; it suffered the fate of a "King of the Hill" feature. Dartmouth is about 20 miles or so north of my home town (about 60 miles west of me now).

I will admit I considered going to Delta State University, until I went to their website and was greeted with an image of a big Fighting Okra.  That made the decision for me, I became a Bulldog (LA Tech).
