What a lovely lineup of planes! Cool

Make sure there are no spaces in the filename before uploading pics (instead of a space use a dash on an underscore).

It was  some spaces that I thought I elinminated.

Anyway, it was their annual RC aircraft weekend. These were some of the models.

...

The only original, air worthy, Hispano powered Jenny in existance. It's beautifully restored.

...

The Albatros D.Va has been taken out of service and placed in one of the museum buildings. Plans are to fully restore it.
I remember seeing it back in the mid '80s and it has been flying ever since.
They plan to have it restored and flying again for the 2012 season.
IMO, it's about the meanest looking WW1 fighter.

...

One more...

The Bleriot!
It is considered the oldest flying aircraft in the US but, only portions of it are original.
It had a bit of a mishap saturday. It was taxing back after a great flight down the length of the airstrip (at about 3') when a sudden gust of wind caught it and it hit the fence. It destroyed the right wheel and did some other minor damage. A real shame.

...

OK, Just one more....
A great original Morane Saulnier A-1
I remember seeing it fly back in the mid '80s with it's original rotary engine. It was quite a sight!  It's perhaps the prettiest fighter of WW1.

The Aerodrome is nothing fancy but, they have some great old  aircraft.  Smiley

Reminds me that I haven't been there in a while; I should make a pilgrimage this season.

Too bad that they won't fly that Jenny anymore... it's heartbreaking.  Cry

I also love the Albatros- did you know that the "Red Baron" scored most of his kills in a DV, not the triplane?

Why wont they fly the Jenny? I realize it's a rare aircraft but, they flew it 2 years ago when I was there.
Saturday, the flights were limited due to a couple of pilots being absent because  of other commitments, possibly due to 9/11. So, they couldn't even fly any  of the  WW1 aircraft. They did fly the beautiful "Fleet biplane" however.

Yeah, I'm aware that the D.Va was Von Richthofen's favorate aircraft while the DR-1 gets all the press. Some things never change. Smiley

I was under the impression that since the last restoration, they would only taxi it, not fly it. If that rule has changed, I guess I know where I'll be this Saturday...  Wink
