Its a bit tough to shoot through plexiglas, so I did the best I could to eliminate the reflections which come with this type of shot.....

The view aft..........hey look, everything is made of wood !

...

The view fwd.........the stairs naturally are the way to the flight deck..........

I must tell you Doug, the extra costs on certain displays, put me off and I decided against paying any more than I was already for the general admission($20), although Wendy did take the time and went and spent the time for the 3D I-Max presentation about the Hubble.....after hearing her enthusiasm, I think I should have also gone in too. Cockpit entrance fee (another $20) effectively doubled the basic museum admission, and for a measly $30 on top of that, they would have let me sit in the front seat. I just felt that $70 is bit too much for me to justify. They also had an entrance fee on a B-17.....snack bar fees were the normal inflated prices, and along with the "gift" shop on site, it could have easily become a bank breaker.....I'm so happy I rode the bike there to keep travel costs down a bit. What, with gas, ferry, motel, and food, the  three day weekend didn't come cheap..........but I had to do it anyway !  Especially since as mentioned, all it might take is one termite to start the process of demise..........

Thanks Ken...that is way too much money to pay.

They probably would be better off asking for a donation.  Airshows are not cheap any more either, especially with children who all want to eat at a display.

Again thanks for taking us along... Wink

Hard to say if they could make ends meet with only donations... and as far as I'm concerned, to enter the flight deck of the one and only Hercules would be worth at least $100!!
Maybe that's part of it, too... charging extra tends to weed out the riff-raff, who are not sufficiently awestruck and reverent.  You wouldn't want "Cletus and Britney 4 Eva" carved in a stringer somewhere... Grin

Actually Sean, you are right on there......if I had deeper pockets, I would certainly have gone the extra and brought home shots of the flight deck, not that I'm riff raff anyway.
One of the volunteers told us that the reason was all about the kids getting into the pilot seat and slamming things around.........the bird deserves better than that, and the only way to ensure that respect is given, is to charge a fee which commands that respect..........
