Hello Alex...

Miraculously, just some injuries, and no deaths, so far.

It really is very bad news for New Zealand, and will cost a lot of money to clear it all up!

It is quite disastrous for the New Zealanders, who are a close-knit community!

The worst 'Quake in a Century.

I'm keeping in touch with them via the Internet.

Paul.

P.S...and more bad news to add to it....

NZ South Island...again..>>>

We'll be bringing up this for a major prayer request tomorrow during Services.

When I first heard someone say check the news there's been a quake in N.Z., I thought whaaaaaaaaat!  Nothing bad ever happens in New Zealand!

A few people I talk to in NZ, say it isn't nearly as bad as the news is making it out to be.

They are saying the destruction is very spread out, and almost hard to locate in some places, which is surprising considering the size of the event.

One said the shaking was pretty intense no matter where you were, but that years of preparation for just such a quake had them ready for it, that's why there were no deaths.  Wink

The Photographs being relayed back from Christchurch bring back painful memories of my personal experience during the German Blitz of London in the 1940's.
The only difference being, the lack of fires.
Brick-built structures in Queensland seem to have suffered particularly badly, with little, or nothing holding the bricks together.

"The country experiences more than 14,000 earthquakes a year, of which only around 20 have a magnitude in excess of 5.0.".

This is the worst one in nearly a Century.

Paul.

San Francisco is bracing itself for the next; "Big One".. Sad...!
