I posted this problem in software  section but got just one response.  A member was kind enough to send me a link discussing this problem  but it was dead on my computer.  I tried Simviation search engine and still no luck.  I have removed my old FS9 program and tried to replace it with a brand new disc. After several uninstalls and installs I can't get the new program. Just the existing one. I know I've screwed up somewhere but am flummoxed about how to proceed. Can someone steer me to the right spot on Simviation that gives a solution to this problem? Many thanks.

I wrote an Illustrated Tutorial on the proper way to un-install FS2004 (and prepare for a clean re-install).

I believe it is in the library here.

If you follow the procedures carefully you should have good results.

Hope that helps.

Hi again: Hate to be a nuisance, but I downloaded  the tips and tricks site you recommended. There was a few lines of text and then a page of computer code. From what I read, the tips explains how to wipe FS2004 and re-install using the same disc. That's not my problem. I don't need to save anything from my old disc. I simply want to install a NEW FS2004 disc. The problem is the new program doesn't show up. Just the old, uninstalled program.  This after both the uninstall of old disc and  installation of new disc is confirmed on the computer. I remain totally puzzled.  Is there an explanation for this? Thanks for any further guidance/

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by new FS2004 disk and old FS2004 program. A new FS2004 install from new disks would be the same as the old install of FS2004. Huh With the exception that a new disks would have the FS2004 9.1 patch preapplied, the program is going to be the same.

Do you mean that you've tried starting over, with a fresh install of FS2004, and parts (planes, flights, etc.) from the old install are still showing up?

If you are trying to say that you have installed FS2004 on a different drive or different HD, and when you use the shortcut on your Desktop it is starting the original one, then you need to be sure the shortcut is pointing the the FS9.exe file in the new location - not the old location.

I have sent you an e-mail about all this.

GROUND  Yes. That's what I mean. Old addons showing in fresh install.

OPA  Thanks. Will check out your e mail.
