I Like Flight Simulation!

Ive just been flying the FSX default Kingair. Very stable, forgiving and driver friendly.
Anybody got an addon aircraft to recommend in the same class that cooks along around 300 knots? And is similarly stable, forgiving and driver friendly? Not to mention that looks better?
The Kingair is quite the ugly duckling in my opinion. One that can get the job done but aint no beauty queen.

Unfortunately, if I want to drive something a little faster than the Beech turbo-prop Kingair, I generally have to resort to something like the default Learjet 45...

AFG King Air 300 is as close to a payware King Air as you can get, but for free, with many working switches, VC, and cabin; though you need to find the FSX patch, if your using FSX. The model simply blows the default king air out of the water... which may or may not change your mind on the prettiness of the King Air (personally, I like how King Airs look
).
Around the same type of airplane, I'd probably go with something along the lines of a Piaggio Avanti, which is a high-speed turbo prop that pitches around the same range, but is a bit faster than the King Air. Very sleek looking design too and flies extremely high for a turboprop. I only know of Wilcopub's payware model, which I haven't tried, but you can have a look at it at
www.wilcopub.com.

The Cessna Mustang business jet may also be your cup of tea. A bit faster, and your getting to the realm of turbofan engines. Very sleek looking business jet, but has less range than the King Air, ironically. Flight1 has a beautiful model for the Mustang.
Aerosoft has a payware Cheyenne that is pretty good, and is a comparable aircraft to a King Air. Its a touch slower, and in my opinion, this Piper turboprop isn't as sexy looking. Looks are a matter of subjectivity though.
Premier Aircraft Design has a freeware Mitsubish MU-2, a plane considered in the same class as the King Air. A little bit faster, but like everything I mentioned aside from the Mustang and Avanti, doesn't quite run at 300 knots. I haven't really spent much time flying Premier Aircraft's models, so I don't have an opinion on them, but its worth checking out, since their stuff is free.

Thanks for all the suggests. I did some research on my own and discovered that the Kingair is about the best for performance in its class. I will get the payware version mentioned here over the weekend.
What I want to do is real time flying between select airports the world over. Into and out of random airports along the way. I really like that. And I also will be switching to the Cub for some low and slow around those random airfields.
I like the get up and go somewhere of a 300knot range bird, but have discovered that you really need to get into the jets to get that kind of performance. Then you lose the relative short-field advantage of the Kingair.

If you want a turbo-prop transporter, you might want to give a try to the Antonov An-32 made by Tim Conrad.
It's a native FSX SP2 plane, with a very cool virtual cockpit.
It's fast as well. I don't know if it's as fast as the King Air, but it's definitely an interesting alternative

King Airs are the first prop planes I got comfy with in FSX. I only had one minor thing....I ended up in the bushes and trees couple times after landing. At times I thought these planes had too much coffee.
I still love them though.

Hey Dude-
I don't mean to be a CAD or anything, but when you refer to a King Air as an ugly duckling, it is immediately obvious you've never been on a real King Air.
I used to practically live on one (a 300) in business and it was absolutely fabulous. You're right about the short strip concept though.
If you'd like to fly at 300k, or faster, try the Gulfstream IV or my favorite- the Falcon 7x- with some practice on flaps, speed, and reverse thrust you can land in a very short distance at full flaps AND stop in the same distance as the King. The Lear 60 is a good alternative, as well.
Good Luck & try to get a ride on the Real thing sometime-- you won't view it as a ducky anymore.
