How do you edit them. I recently downloaded the A300B by Thomas Ruth. At sunset and night the reflections on the windows and windshield are a bit strong interfering with the view outside. I just want to tone it down a bit. What file do I have to edit? I tried playing with the "glass DDS" alpha file but that didn't work even changing the channels to 0. Obviously I picked the wrong file. Any ideas?

Well, If you used a blank white alpha channel and that didn't work, then it might just me the model. I don't really have any more ideas.  Grin

Cool

Embarrassed  Embarrassed  Embarrassed HOLY COW! I went towards black instead of white!  Shocked

Black makes it more reflective and while makes it less. Gotta pay more attention to the tutorials. I will try it with the right RGB values and report back.

Surely the alpha is controlling transparency and reflection coded into the model material??
Huh

It does depend on the model, some may not have the reflections, or it may be in a seperate file

I do alot of repaints but alpha channels are not my specialty.

Makes no difference which model in the case of glass.

Alpha can control reflections or transparency but not both

In this case the part must be a transparent part and so alpha will not be reflective

This is more of a modelling thing rather than a paint issue.

Yeah, must be the model.

I tried it again with more white values and it made no difference. I'm a bit confused now thought because the dds file says "glass". When I load it into DXTBmpx it sure looks like the windows and windshield, but after playing with this file I cannot figure out what I was effecting since it wasn't the reflction on the glass. I didn't see anything change in the cockpit view. I'm wondering if the VC has its own set of files that I missed and the "glass" file was for exterior shine.

I would think there is a seperate texture for the VC glass from the external models glass.....that's the norm

The windows for the exterior model will probably be on a main/misc texture sheet. I'll download the plane and take a look.
