Flight Event (Read 1260 times)

Date: Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Time: 3:00pm US Eastern

Route:
Caribbean Island hoping!

Carricou (TGPZ) - Union (TVSU) - Canouan (TVSC) - Mustique (TVSM) - Bequia (TVSB)

Not sure if all these fields are in FS2004. I'll be using FSX, since I just bought FlyTampa's "Grenadines" scenery.

Aircraft: User choice. I'll probably use Aerosim's payware FSX YS-11.

Sim Time: User choice.

Weather: Real world.

Hope to see a few of you there. Obviously I'll try joining through the Chocolatesoft software, so the FS2004 users here should just connect through their usual means.

Paul, my planner is showing that the flight is slightly less than 40 nautical miles. Not sure where you are getting the 66 from.

Ah-Ha...!

Hello Sean...

My FS 2004 doesn't list TGPZ! ....only TGPY (Point Salines Int).
...and from TGPY to TVSB in the FS Nav Flight Plan is 66 Miles....

Strange...FSX/FS2004?...add-on FSX Airfield?

Paul...FS 2004 Default ...FS Nav... Smiley...!

If you're joining through X, I might try it as well. I've been experimenting with it lately and the chatbox is annoying, but the better graphics
almost
make it worth it.

Hopefully I'll remember this one.  Cheesy

Cool

I've always had FSX since it was first released, Brando; but as you can see from the FS Nav screen shot, that's why I, and many other FS Nav Users, still stick to FS 2004 for our flights, both Solo, and especially Multiplayer where we ALL appear on the (Radar) screen!!

..plus the fact that FS 2004 runs so much better, maxed, on my FS 2004... Kiss...!

My old/ancient Hardware is not a happy bunny with FSX!... Wink... Wink...!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Nav...and an intimate knowledge of FS 2004 California!... Grin... Grin...!

Interesting. I'm not sure if my departure field is in default FSX, although it is a real world field. I'm using FlyTampa's payware scenery for these fields (5 in one package!)

Skoker, assuming you don't have the FlyTampa package, can you see if Carricou (TGPZ) is listed in default FSX? (It may even be a different ICAO identifier).
The field would be listed under the country of "Grenada" while the other four fields are all listed under "St. Vincent and the Grenadines".

Sooo......FS2004 users can depart at Point Salines and meet up with those of us who have the other field. Luckily, from a quick glance, all of the other fields appear to be in both sims.
If we come across more major differences during the flight, we'll just fly somewhere else!

I'm using the Grenadines package:
http://www.flytampa.org/

I know we'll definitely see some sim differences with Mustique airfield, due to the FSX addon's rendition having a sloping runway.

Peculiarer and peculiarer, as Alice would say!.... Shocked... Grin...!

A Google Map Search for "TGPZ Airfield. West Indies near Caribbean Sea", brings up (TBPB) Airfield; Grantley Adams Int Airport. Barbados.

TBPB, Grantley Adams Int (Barbados) DOES appear in the FS 2004, (but no reference to TGPZ)...!

So....do we start at TBPB Airfield?...or not?.. (its a long distance!)

If so, I need to revise my Flight Plan...urgently!.... Grin...!

Paul...Confucius... Embarrassed... Wink... Grin....!

Paul, TGPZ is a real airfield.
http://www.gcmap.com/airport/TGPZ

Lauriston Airfield:
http://www.svgair.com/svg_air_photo_gallery_2_21.html

http://www.grenadabroadcast.com/content/view/7802/45/

Microsoft simply forgot to add it in the sim. For those users without it, I recommend the following:

Start at Point Salines Intl on Grenada. (TGPY I think....)
(To make matters worse, this airport is now known as Maurice Bishop International Airport)

The airport code for Lauriston is indeed TGPZ.
TBPB is in a different country and has no relation!

See you on the flight.

Hey Paul, at least I make the experience realistic!  Grin Wink

We'll do this one tomorrow (Sunday), and push the ATC one to another date. I never received any responses regarding that one anyway.

Same time.

Hello Sean....
ATC:
The Zurich to Milan flight contained no Radio Beacons en-route anyway, apart from a few Intersections, so it looked like a straight VFR GPS Flight from A to B.

It may be interesting for me to fly the route Solo, using FS 2004 ATC, and flying a Flight Plan under IFR conditions?

Paul....I like FS 2004 IFR Flights.. Kiss...!
