With me it's all a matter of pronunciation. Collectable sounds right. Note that it can be used as a noun or verb adjective. Again it depends on where you live. This is what Wikipedia says about it.

Spelling

Although "collectable" is the spelling listed first for the adjective by the Oxford English Dictionary and is standard spelling in British English, the dictionary observes that the "-ible" form is also valid, and has come to be common spelling in the United States.

My pronounciation treats the 'a' and the 'i' as the same sound.

'Pro-nounce-iation', or 'pro-nun-ciation'? Tomato, tomato.  Tongue

Pronunciation is the correct spelling. If you pronounce words properly you can usually spell them & vice versa.

I agree with that. Smiley

However, I'm sure you'll agree it's confusing.

Well, it's always 'Lieutenant', but between 'left' and 'loo', I always say 'left'... Even though 'In lieu' is pronounced as 'loo' and not 'left'. I have absolutely no idea, I don't know but I don't question it.  Grin

Write is the right spelling/word, UK or US; in such case as right means correct, it's derived from the right hand side -- if it was wrong, it was left (behind). In lieu of write, you could have used compose even if you didn't set it to music (just don't follow machineman9 and "loo" it unless you want it flushed.

Cool

I agree with that. Smiley

However, I'm sure you'll agree it's confusing.

I won't argue that  Grin
