Hi All:
I was thinking of replacing my old and outdated music PC with a new but cheap PC. The sound card is a Sounblaster Live Platinum of which I am very fond of and i'd like to put it in a new but cheap rig for itunes etc.
My question is, can i put the SC in a PC that has a built in SC in the motherboard and do i need to bypass the built in SC somehow?

yes you can  Wink slot sound card in,  download latest drivers   http://support.creative.com/Products/product_list.aspx?catID=1&CatName=Sound+Bla... and bobs your uncle Wink you might have to go into bios and disable your onboard soundcard but don't bother only if you have issues creative will take care of this. It should just use it by default. If not, you may just have to go into the sound mixer on your computer and just select that sound card as the output device.

But usually when a piece of hardware knows it is obsolete, it hides in the corner.

I still use my lovely old Creative Soundblaster Live! 1024 Card, with its Emu Voice/Effects Chip, (ideal for MIDI applications), but, being an ancient Card, its Drivers were designed for Win '98, so with Alrot's help, managed to find some Drivers for Win XP Pro SP2.... Smiley...!
