Reboot your computer, and router (if you're using one)

This seems to have something to do with anti-virus programs, pop-up blockers, and the occasional odd toolbar.

After a Google search, this solution seems to be the common fix for this issue.

Quote:
SGOS = security gateway operating system
usually referring to a server or router or proxy server utilizing the SGOS 3.0.. It can also be used in pop up blockers and instant messaging blockers using a vpn tunnels between different IP addresses. Look for any of the software blockers and either update them to get new permissions or remove them

This is also caused by AV programs, and from what else I can find, some smaller ISPs who let their licenses expire.

Who is your ISP, and what AV program do you use?

The problem appears to be with your ISP, and you are not alone :

From a posting today:
http://support.mozilla.com/nl/forum/1/728499

If you cannot reach that link, multiple users (both IE8 & Firefox) are having the exact same problem, and they ALL use Talk Talk as their ISP.
