The new graphics card arrived today, but I managed to take one last shot from Alaska with the old one before I pulled it out.  Wink

Goodbye, old girl, you served me well,
even though I flogged you unmercifully for your entire life.  Grin

A very fitting farewell shot....
Nice Smiley

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

I probably won't be posting any of them here.  Embarrassed

I moved the in game resolution up to 1440x900, and everything looks killer, and runs at nice smooth frames, and not a jaggie in sight in my screenshots....

However, when it comes to prepping the shots for posting,
the size crunch down to 1024x768 absolutely slaughters them to the point that, the old cards shots look 100% better.  Cry

I went through Doug's tutorials with a couple of the programs I have, and I've tinkered with the one I've used for the past 3 years now, and it just isn't happening, and I'm not going back to 1024 in game resolution.  Embarrassed

At most, I suppose I could do linked thumbnails, but that would be a lot of extra work to post a few shots every now & then, and I already visit a few other sites that have a 500kb, unlimited size posting limit, so I'll probably just post them there.  Wink

Shane, this resizing problem strikes me a little bit...
Could you upload somewhere a full resolution screenshot in BMP format (or JPEG with no compression), so that I could try playing with it to see what happens upon resizing ?

As soon as I find a site to upload to, that won't re-size it for me.  Roll Eyes

I just tried my photo bucket account, but they keep shrinking it down to 1024.  Angry

It's current size it 1440x900 @ .98mb

It is posted here @ 477kb: http://www.screenshotworld.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15204

But you may need an account to view it.  Wink

Edited:
After some searching, it appears that if I want to upload the  full image, I need to hand over some money, so the best I can do is email it to you, if you still want it.  Wink

Don't give up yet Shane. I'm doing it, but from 1920x1024 down to 1024 wide. I do sometimes crop a good bit out before resizing, but not always. I don't know what you are using, but I have been using Paint Shop Pro 7  for a while now and get good results. Also, try ImageShack, they don't size down.

I use screen hunter to do the capture, and Paint shop pro 9 for the resizing.

I may be done for a while regardless now.  My FS9 has started crashing and doing all kind of bad things, and I'm hoping it just needs a reinstall.

Just when it was getting good, it all went to hell.  Cry

Sorry. BTDT. (been there done that)  Sad
BTW, FRAPS demo lets you choose the 'hot' button and the directory where you want to save the shots. And there is no limit to the number of shots you can take. Plus, it has a multiple shot feature where it will take a shot ever second or whatever you put in, until you press the hot key again. I took over a hundred the other day using that feature while checking out some new scenery. It's nice for lightning captures too. I've been using it for quite a while now and I love it.
