Latest news for all those experiencing problems with the Chocolate Software Port Test Program, (For your Router, Firewall, etc), eg.
"Error: timed out waiting for response"

It tests if all the necessary Ports on your System are "open" for On-line Multiplayer.

There are some problems with FS Port Test, apparently, which are being examined.

Fingers crossed... Wink...!

Like  I mentioned in the other post,
I've tried several other port testers,
and they all say I'm fine.  Smiley

A port is a port, no matter what it's connecting to,
so if a few say you're good,
and one says you're not,
it's the tester and not the ports.

If you get bad results from the FShost port tester,
then by all means try another tester or two...

If one doctor told you that you had cancer,
you'd get a second opinion right?

Same thing here.  Wink   Grin

Isn't it sad, that after ALL these years, this is still an issue?  Roll Eyes

You'd think there would have been some kind of technological wonder by now that would have fixed all this mess.  Cry

Unfortunately it is inherent to the sims themselves..... shy of hacking the code in the main programs.... can't be easily fixed.

Hi all,

depending on your firewall/router settings, you could get a friend to 'PING' your IP address appending the address with the port number such as 192.168.1.1:8080

If you have more than one PC on your internal network at home, try pinging each PC to check that pinging isn't being stopped.

It's also a known way of forcing another user off the internet so be carefull, often called a DoS attack.

On another point relating to multiplayer, I'll be back on the internet at home for the first time in a year, I've not 'flown' online since fs98 with sabenava and europairva. Once internet is setup and hopefully ports are open  Wink I could do with linking up with somebody -  anybody anywhere.
I'll just need to install a popular voice comms proggy.

regards
Steve
PS find a security firm that does online testing, that will reveal any open ports.

May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs, but that is due to change Smiley
