After umpteen hours to download and then a while to read the manual and install PMW, I can't open FTX Central. I get the following error message:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Could not find file 'C:\Users\patchz\Desktop\foxbattemp\terrain.cfg.'"

I posted on ORBX Forum but since it is a holiday, I don't expect an answer any time soon. Needless to say, patchz not happy camper.  Angry Sad

Larry - I think it's maybe something to do with memory, or lack of useable.  That 4.2G addition probably caused it.  There are ways to reassign memory but I'd have to Google them.  Also look at 'Page Files' - just a thought.

Thanks, that made me remember that I forgot to run Registry Booster and Ultimate Defrag afterwards. But that may not solve it. There is a patch due to another error message but I have not found out yet if I need the patch for this problem or if it requires something else. Just going to take a while longer. I hope that's all it is.

Do you have anything like 'foxbattemp' installed?

For some reason unknown to me, FTX chose to create and place the folder foxbattemp and place it on the desktop.

foxbattemp contains the following subfolders and in some cases different types of files. Obviously, each subfolder also has subfolders and/or files.

   FTX_AU\FTXAA_OBRXLIBS\Scenery & Texture

   FTX_NA\FTX_NA_PNW05_SCENERY\Scenery & Texture
         \FTX_NA_PNW06_CVX\Scenery & Texture
         \FTX_NA_PNW07_MESH\Scenery
         \FTX_NA+PNW08_CUSTOM\Scenery & Texture

   Scripts\Backup
          \custom.na
          \FTXCentral\INstallBackup
                \Regions
                \Work\Images & files
           \FTXCentral.exe
                \Lights\04, through 12, Halo.1 through Halo.6
           \files

   UserDocuments\Versions
           \User Guide, Map, & Coverage

Admin John Venema at Orbx FTX Community and Support Forums thinks the problem is my dual install of FSX. And he may be right. But I'm wondering why I was able to install, with out any problems, GEX, REX, and UTX in my Payware FSX but not FTX. About 75-85% of all addons I have installed have given me the option to choose the location of the installation, but according to what I've read, FTX does not. Where is it written that FSX and addons have to be installed to C:\, let alone C:\Program Files (x86)? And why? It appears at this point that if I want to use these two addons I have spent so many hours on downloading, installing and trying to find a fix for, not to mention the monetary issue, I will have to uninstall all of my addons in Payware FSX, uninstall Payware FSX, and basically start over from scratch using only FSX. Having a Freeware only version is no longer that important to me, but this will more than likely take weeks. And I have no guarantee that if I do that, FTX will then install properly in FSX on D:\.  Sad Undecided Cry Angry

BTW, the defrag and registry clean/boost had no effect.

Success!!! John at Orbx posted a fix and it worked. Had to download and run FSX Registry Utility to set the correct path to Payware FSX, and install the PNW.002 patch, but it did not take long and was well worth it. Still getting 30 fps in the rural areas and around 20 over Seattle and Sea-Tac, with autogen set on very dense and mesh resolution on 2cm. And I turned my road traffic down to 16% per the manual and had more traffic than I have ever seen. Absolutely love the ground textures, trees and buildings. I did not think Vashon could be improved, but I was wrong. Can hardly wait for them to do the entire US. Hopefully, Alaska too.  Smiley

In the vernacular of these young whippersnappers, FTX rules!!!
