Hey guys, got a few questions on Flight Planing. Now, I have been looking around for a nice and quick route to fly with a 757 and I have found this one on flight aware. Delta Airlines from KATL to KMIA.

Flight Aware translates this too.........
Quote:KATL HRSHL ESFOR ESTWU ESTUS THRSR LUCKK SZW HEVVN LEGGT PLYER SEATE JUULI BAARY CYY DEEDS SSCOT RUBOE WALIP LECIT KMIA
I know that everything before THRSR is part of the THRSR5 SID so I excluded all those waypoints from the plan making my first waypoint LUCKK.
Now I am a bit confused at how the STAR works. The pilot in this case used the SSCOT STAR, so I removed everything back to BAARY. Now my flightplan consisted of....
Quote:LUCKK SZW HEVVN LEGGT PLYER SEATE JUULI BAARY
I took off, flew the THRSR departure and proceeded to climb. After an about an hour I noticed I was approaching BAARY. Upon reaching BAARY I was instructed to descend and turn to heading. Now here is where I went wrong.
Because my last way point was BAARY my FMC displayed "END OF ROUTE" and I lost LNAV and VNAV functions. Switching over to Verticle speed and SPD Hold, I fumbled with the FMC to try and initate a STAR. (in this case SSCOT). Because the route had ended and it was my first time using the STAR function, I could not get the FMC to fly the star.
To make matters worse, I had been assigned to runway 8L of KMIA which has no precision approaches. I requested visual with vectors to final and landed softly.
So the question is, should I include the "expected" STAR into my flight plan to keep my FMC happy and to be safe? Or should I include the VOR-TAC at KMIA itself to make the FMC happy and still allow me to fly another STAR. What would be the proper realistic way?
A better question for me to ask would be what should the below flightplan look like without the SID/STAR's and should I include a STAR just to be safe?
