THE  JUNE   SCREENSHOT  FINALISTS...

1. BOIKAT

...

"The Spindrift has always been one of my favorite SF ships, even though during the TV series, Land of the Giants, it only flew during the pilot episode, and maybe once or twice during the series run, and then only for very short hops, if at all.
One reason I like it is because it has that curious look of a Corvette "Stingray", and at the same time, the shape of the tail fin recalls the old "Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon rockets of the old serials from the '30's, '40's, and '50's (No, I am not old enough to remember them from first hand movie-going experience.  Besides, those "Talkies" are just a "flash-in-the-pan" fad....)."

2. CANTFLYWONTFLY

...

"The date was the 30th of May 1988,  I was just four years old and I was standing in the back garden watching the aircraft from the Coventry/Baginton Airshow pass over the house. I was eating a ham sandwich when all of a sudden an aircraft came out of nowhere disappearing behind the house, followed shortly after by a deafening explosion. I ran inside to see a huge fireball roaring down the street in between the houses. At this point, I think I burst into tears! a few seconds later, one of the rear wings slammed into the garden fence, landing just a few feet from where I had been standing.
The aircraft that had crashed was a Gloster Meteor T7 (WF791) and was being piloted at the time by pilot Flight Lieutenant Peter Stacey. It is now known that the aircraft encountered catastrophic engine difficulties during the display and plummeted towards the houses
Flt. Lt. Stacey knew if he hit the houses there would be massive loss of life and he took the split second decision to nose dive the stricken Meteor into a patch of open ground between the Willenhall and Ernesford Grange housing estates. The aircraft impacted just the other side of the main road, into a small piece of greenery, missing a bus by yards, and the houses by a hundred yards.
Without the bravery of Lieutenant Peter Stacey, Many others and I may not be here today.
A true Hero."

3. DGLOVE23

...

"My grandfather was a Korean War-era fighter pilot, flying the F-86 Sabre for USAF. Although I never got to see him much, this shot reminds me of what he gave to our country and how his actions made him my lifelong idol"

4. FUTUREPILOT

...

"The first time I got to actually take the controls was in December of '09. I met a Pilot a few months earlier that told me he would take me flying! Well, we got up their and he said, "You wanna try?" I was like... "try... what?"  He said, "Do you want to fly it?" I was like "YEAH!!!"   Anyway, about the picture, we were flying around where I lived so he was doing some steep turns showing us stuff from a new view. One thing that I will always remember about that flight (besides getting to fly ) was seeing this baseball field and the school around it. "

5. JAKESF14

...

"Just watching traffic on a busy airport is fascinating me.
watching every aircraft appear out of the blue, stretch its legs, and
finally return back to earth.
Wondering about the passengers... Who is arriving home
Who is away from their loved ones...
who is the jet-setter, and which one is the one with heartache
It is more than just watching. It is about dreaming..."

6. JAMEST1991

...

"This was the Queen's official birthday. Every year the army do a military parade in London for the Queen (trooping the colour) and it is finished off with an RAF Flypast. This year i was lucky enough to be on board the Tristar for the flypast. We had 2 Tornado GR4's one on each wing. I hope this shot captures my excitement as the 2 Tornado's joined us over RAF Marham."

7. MAGLAD

...

"Although I'd flown a number of times by this point, this was my first time on the flight deck, and what a flight it was! From Tenerife Reina Sofia back to Newcastle (EGNT) through a thunder storm, watching the whole sky flash with lightning. A most amazing experience, even if most of the passengers in the back didn't agree!  Grin  Here's the Britannia 767 which brought me home, pictured as she climbs away from Reina Sofia's runway 08 as storms builds in the distance."

8. MATTHEWDEV

...

"The first time I remember flying was when I was about 8 or 9 years old and a friend of my Dad took me flying with my brothers, I don't remember exactly what kind of plane it was, just that it was a small twin prop. My strongest memory was the awe in seeing how small the world looked from up there, and that is the feeling I have attempted to recreate! "

9. MEES

...

"Guess this shot reflects what my aviation passion is pretty much, and it goes well with the prize"

10.  PATCHZ
...

"Over Jackson Lake, just south of Jackson Hole, Wyoming in Grand Teton National Park.
Grand Teton photoreal scenery by Frank Dainese available on SimV.
Aircraft is AFG's Beechcraft Super King 300, also available on SimV."

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE FINALISTS!

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

While not the most beautiful in artistic terms, I've voted to the shot most deserving to win, in my opinion anyway.
Fantastic collection as usual! Shocked
