Hi all,

I fly with the FS serie since FS5. I went through FS5, CFS, FS98, CFS2, and then I jumped directly into FS2004 and started taking screenshots to share with the rest of the FS community.

I was a 100% freeware-flyer, never had any payware of any sort. I took quite a lot of screenshots with FS9, all numbered to avoid filemane duplicates. Then came FSX, with many more screenshots.

This lasted for 1078 screenshots. And suddently, yesterday it happened... my first payware plane got installed in my FSX !!  Cheesy

I found myself sitting in one of the most amazing virtual cockpits of the whole history of PC flight simulators, for a successfull test flight from Vaernes AB and landing on the Nimitz Carrier. Those screenshots are thus my first ever payware screenshots, and hopefully they will not be the lasts Smiley

First, the beast itself. I couldn't resist getting into the cockpit before reading the manual. I managed to start it though, with the help of the checklist. I just needed to search on a forum to understand how to activate the nose wheel steering (keyboard command only :/ )
...

Then I went for a nice test flight around the airport... and I started thinking that landing such a plane on a runway would be a shame Smiley
...

Successfull landing at the second attempt. On first try, I applied too much engine power, too soon, and I didn't touch the deck, so I made another approach for the second try, which was a total success  Cool
...

...

Hope you like as much as I liked  Cheesy

Congrats Daube, and WOW!!  Shocked Shocked

I love the paint scheme on that F-18.   Smiley

I hope this doesn't mean your leaving the freeware world behind though.  Undecided   Wink   Grin

Looking forward to more shots of this one.  Cool

I'm not living the freeware world of course Wink
I've got too many excellent planes that I can't just leave behind. Same for sceneries.
Since I do not plan to buy REX or any environmental addons that would influence the whole planet, I still can shoot a 100% freeware screenshot easilly.
The only "scenery" addons I plan to buy are FTX PNW and SwitzerlandX, so probably I'll have to stop posting glider screenshots in the freeware section, since I manly glide in Switzerland...

Hi Daube,

On the nose wheel steering problem.
On my installation using the default f-18 on the carrier tuturial, the nose wheel steering is OFF if the launch bar is down.

Try this with your payware.

regards

Steve.

May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs, but that is due to change Smiley

That's not it.
Of course I wasn't taxiing with the launch bar extended Wink I was taking off from a normal airport, so my launch bar was retracted and I verified that before leaving the parking.
To enable the NWS, I had to press SHIFT+N, there was no switch in the virtual cockpit.

After pressing this key combo, the NWS became active and the yellow warning on the left MDF dissappeared. However, I found my maximum turning angle to be quite limited, I wonder if this is normal. Normally, a SuperHornet is able to perform a 90° turn almost without moving. In the sim, my hornet would need a lot of space to turn...
