In the summer of 1970 after getting some peliminary flight training in the Boy Scouts, the trainer and personal family friend took his son and my brother and I up on my first flight in a Cessna out of KBLM.  We made a tour at about 1000 ft over our houses then Jim (the trainer) headed for the beach at Long Branch, NJ.  He actually went a couple of miles out then turned around sharp to head back.

Here's a picture of that turn in the default Cessna 172, full settings in FSX Standard with fair weather set. Ok, while it may not be the prettiest shot in the competition, I want you to imagine yourself where I was as a 12 year old boy...in the rear passenger seat with my face pressed up against the window, fear in my eyes thinking I was headed for Davey Jones' locker.  Yes I was screaming.  Yes I enjoyed it.  And yes...there was a change of underwear involved.  LOL

I'm really surprised I didn't.  But after he saw the fear in my eyes (and me feeling it in my soul) he gave me the co-pilot's seat and controls for a few seconds in an effort to bring me back to reality.  That last part was enough to make me a fan for life.
