Sounds pretty cool!  I can't fly these days (substandard rig) but I would love to see some screenshots if you can manage it.

Where's all the stuff?

My scenery is missing a lot of what is in your screenshots.
...

...

My scenery complexity sliders are all full right and I have a proper installation of the Rwy12 Static Object Libraries.

BTW, why did you include those libraries in your addon?

Why make an addon 38MB when it only needs to be about 200KB?

Why waste the space in the SimV file system?

Why waste the extra bandwidth required to download all those files most of us already have?

I don't understand it. Huh

cheers,
Joe

Those ppl that do not MAKE sceneries will not have the Object Library Files needed to show the proper buildings and pads and such.

That's a pretty big assumption, I know many who have those libraries installed that do not make scenery.

So why not just tell people what they need and where to get it instead of bloating your upload with files many already have, and most of the libraries you uploaded are not needed for your scenery.

Did you get permission from all those authors to include their material in your upload?

...as to why they are not showing up for you, I would first question if you followed the READ ME and installed the object library and activated it.  ... I do see that you DO have "some" object library files installed, but you do NOT have the ones required for this download.   Therefore, you will need the files that I supplied.

Yes, I read your readme.

I have installed hundreds of addon sceneries and feel confident that I know what I am doing. And as I said in my first post...

In fact I am so familiar with the Rwy 12 Static Object Libraries that I can see several items in your screenshots that are not part of that package.

Some of them are...the 2 semi-trailer trucks out on the road, the 2 small trailers, one appears to be a red tank and the other a yellow ground power unit, and the rusty metal hangar the 500 is in.

Speaking of the Hughes 500D, there is one in the Rwy 12 SOL however it's green, not yellow. So I thought maybe you had repainted it. Thinking that, I looked in the texture folder you provided and discovered static500D.bmp appears to be missing. What else did you forget to put in?

BTW, static206b.bmp is missing also, which explains why the 206 on the trailer in your screenshot is missing it's textures.

In addition to the Rwy12 SOL I have collected most of the EZ-Scenery libraries that have been released over the years and have them installed also.

It appears to me you have used some objects that I have not installed in my FS or they would show up in the scenery. So what are they and where can I get them?

In closing, I hope you take this as constructive criticism.

My goal is to help you do a better job. Compared to KDVI this is better, but you need to do a better job of keeping track of what you use so you can tell your end-users.

It is my opinion, and that of several other people I have discussed this with, that if you did not create it, don't include it in your download. Keep track of it and list the needed files in your readme. Most anyone who has installed any Rwy12/EZ-Scenery type addons probably has these object libraries already. And if they don't, they should. You only have to install them once and then forget about them.

When developers include these libraries, without all the required textures, they are setting up their end-users for display issues that can take hours to fix. Trust me, I know. I have spent hours doing just that.

cheers,
Joe

in the Freeware Screenshot area, the caption above the "MAINTAINENCE AREA" pic reads.. "Shot of the Maintainence area with a Bell 206B waiting to get painted."

[I never saw that post]

I understand that the 206b is missing the .bmp texture for it, and in all honesty, with the caption I wanted to keep it and use it as is.  I intentionally wanted it in the scenery that way.  (If I had the texture file for it, there would have been a few that did have the textures around the area, but being that I dont have the texture, I wanted it as is.)

[This statement proves that you do not understand how scenery object libraries work. It's all or none when it comes to textures meaning that if you don't have textures here on the 206B, you will never have textures anywhere on the same model]

Constructive Criticism is always helpful to modelers/designers, but to do so openly in public such as this is wrong in my eyes.  Why gripe about someones work when they put in such hard work without first emailing the company/person that made it to try and get it fixed??

[I wasn't "griping" about your work, I was trying to see in my sim what you showed us in your screenshots. If your so worried about the reception of your work that you don't want people talking about it in public, why publish it? I posted here for the benefit of those 136 other people who might want to see the whole package also. maybe one of them would see this post and benefit from it also.]

[example: "Ultimate Terrain Mesh is worthless because it does not do exactly what the makers say it should. None of the mountains in my simulator look any different than from they did as default."  --- did someone contact the publisher to try to get it fixed before making the statement???? probably not.]

[I have no idea, except that I want it to be clear that I am not the one that made that statement. And I also know there is no such thing as "Ultimate Terrain Mesh".]

[EXAMPLE 2: This thread.......... did you email me and say there is/was a problem with what you saw, or cant see, before you ripped into the scenery publicly??  NOPE!]

[Again, I did not intend to "rip" your scenery, only point out the fact it doesn't work. A point, by the way, which you still have not addressed]

i hate to say it, but you might as well deleted it.  Being that I am the author/creator of the scenery in question and I know what I used and the overall lack of communication in regards to getting the correct files needed... I am deciding to NOT send the needed files.   You can either use the files as is, or delete it.

[deleted, thanks for the help]
