I'm definitely not an artist. However, I wanted to give repainting a try. I did this in about 4 hours using DXTBMP and Paint.net.

Nice design and the orange paint looks cool. Have you tried using GIMP yet?
The blue looks like the default in MSPaint. I hate default colors

I dunno, I kinda like the "default blue". It sets off the mellow orange very nicely, and the plane itself is a good one to be starting with. When you get into painting third-party aircraft you start getting evil parts that don't paint correctly, or other such nonsense!
Very well done. Keep it up!
