I've seen a lot of pictures from you and others of aircraft in this pass.  Is it a regular training route for the RAF, or what is the story?  Do the people living there seem to mind the RAF planes tearing through there?  I know it is called the Mach loop, but whereabouts is it (remember I am a bleeding colonial Wink )

Nice sequence! Very interesting interaction of vortices and exhaust turbulence in some of those.  Shocked

The Machynlleth Loop is in Wales. Not sure exactly where Mic took these from. Full details here --> http://www.warplane.co.uk/Wales.htm

Superb shots, which is louder, the Tornado or Eurofighter? I heard the Eurofighter once at an air display, god it was loud.

Tornado....one of the best experiences in aviation is to hear a tonka on full chat heading straight towards you down a valley. Absolutely superb  Cool Cool

Doug has covered the location. These were all taken from Cad west. It is a frequently used Mountain Training Area for NATO air arms. (F15Es use it quite a bit from Lakenheath. On that day there were 6 Eagles about but all their passes were high through Cad) However, don't expect to see anything. It's hit and miss and you can spend a day in glorious weather and blank, or have a load of traffic through in fog and rain.

I'll get some more up over the next few days Smiley
