Spring is here at last! Lovely weather on Saturday so I went over to Shoreham for some much-needed practice with the camera. Here's a few residents & a couple of unusual visitors.
Very nice Falco F8L.
Bet you don't know what this is. No cheating.
This one's for Craig, Doug & Ozzy.

Looks similar to a plane postet here not long ago: don't know if it's correctly spelled or even close but it has affinity to a Routan (?)...
edit: maybe it's a bit too small... The one I remember looked larger! Almost looks like a Piaggio Avanti

You were correct first time. It's a development of a Rutan design by another company. This is the first one I've seen of this particular type. I would like the actual name of it.

I did look it up, but first I guessed, and I guessed right.
It's a Cozy, derived by Nat Puffer from Rutan's Long-EZ.
Believe it or not, this is a plane you can fabricate yourself from plans. A search of the reg shows it as a "Blackburn" Cozy; as is usually the case with registration of experimentals, that name is probably the builder's name.
Not sure if it is a III or a Mk IV, though.

Very nice set, BTW...!!
That Stampe is gorgeous.

As usual your knowledge of obscure aircraft is amazing.
I have to admit that I looked it up. This is the first example I've seen.

I believe it's only available as a home-built. The main difference from the Long-EZ is the wider fuselage with side-by-side seating. (Not apparent from my photo which is the reason I chose it.
) From the size of the engine I assume it's the III. The IV is a four-seater.

Good morning all...
Wonderful shots Doug and that one of the Chippie certainly brought back some fond memories....
Thanks for posting them and looks like you are off to a fine start again this year.
I was just wondering, do you ever get far enough away to an airshow or airfield where you stay overnight or do you just make a day's drive of it?
Would public transit take you directly to an airfield or not? Here one needs a private motor vehicle to go to most locations as public transit does not stop at a lot of the local airstrips.
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Thanks Doug. Three hours drive is my limit for an air show these days. Fortunately a lot of airfields fall within this radius from where I live. During the season I sometimes go to two events over a weekend which involves a lot of driving. Next month there are three over the Bank Holiday weekend, weather permitting of course. Microlight Fair at Popham on Saturday, Spring Air Display at Old Warden on Sunday & back to Popham on Monday for the Classic Vehicle Rally & Fly-in.

I actually travelled to Shoreham on the bus on Saturday. The bus stop is just across the road from my home & the journey takes about 30 minutes with a 15 minute walk at the other end. Our friend Mic used to travel all over the country by train from his home in Bristol. Not sure if he still does it or if he now has a car.

Thanks Doug...
With the move this year I know we will not make it over but having talked to a couple of visiting RAF Crews who our son invited to our home for a dinner, I am starting to think that public transit is the way to go when we get there.
I do not think renting a vehicle at the airport would be the way to go for us now. I do not think we could do the driving even though we will be limited to where we go by public transit.
There are friends and relatives but I shall take the wait and see approach. I try not to plan too far ahead as plans have a way of changing.

There is one at the local airport near me (well actually 2) but if I see it soon I will post the pic.
