A while back I had posted that I thought I saw an MI-24 fly over my work, and had since wondered about it. Well this past weekend I attended the Eglin AFB airshow and to my surprise, there was the Hind! Was quite excited to see it in person. Got talking to the pilots and was told that it is a civil registered helicopter, but does take part in military operations such as Red Flag. Ok, enough of the story... here are some pictures.
Sorry, just couldnt get any shots without people in the way.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Nice shots, but why is it classed as experimental?

Im just guessing... but maybe because there is no type cert for it in the US?
Pilot told me that this is the only Hind currently flying in the US as well!

Maybe because of all the stickers at the switches and gauges???

Also, it's not the only Hind flying in the US.

The Cold War Air Museum in Texas has one flyable, and one that soon will be.

In addition, Vertol Systems in Oregon has a few flyable ones.

Still, that must have been an amazing sight to see!

This is the Vertol Systems Hind. They had it here for some major overhauls, as told by the pilot. He did say there were several others as you pointed out... but according to him, as we speak this is the only one flying. I dunno, either way it definitely was great to see!
Here are 2 more shots

Wonderful photographs! The Mi-24 is a particular favourite of mine. I was reading a little while ago (probably 8 months ago) that three Ukrainian Mi-24's (with a possible addition of two other Mi-24's) were up for sale at around 1.9 million USD. A little bit out of my price range I'm affraid...but I can imagine it raised many heads.
