I thought that might have been the issue, I have Win 7 too... If you need help with the workaround (For FSX that is!) just let me know, though I think its been discussed in depth in a topic somewhere here...

I'm not sure about what to do with FS9 though  Sad

Matthew

I appreciate the offer and if I have problems that those posts don't solve, I will certainly give you a holler. Smiley
Right now, I'm wishing FSX would get here soon, as I am making little headway with FS9.  Angry Sad
But I just read a post by Hagar in FS2004 that might work. I plan to try it as soon as I get through browsing here.

Good luck with getting it all working!

New computer + "scenery problems" = Windows 7

With Windows7, there is a common bug that prevents everybody from adding sceneries to the scenery library in the usual way.

But there is a workaround, a special sequence of actions (clicks) to perform to force the selection of the scenery folder. Just make a search on the forum, the problem is VERY well known. Every single Win7 user has experienced it.

Thanks Daube, but that is for FSX and does not work for FS9. But I will need in a week or so when my FSX arrives.

Are you sure about that ?
It seems to me that FSX and FS9 suffer from the same bug, and the same workaround applies in both cases.
Something about right-clicking somewhere...

I suspect the problem is with Windows 7 & not the version of FS. This works for some people but apparently not others.  http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=4426
OR perhaps it depends on the scenery.*

*The problem here is that there's so many possible variables. Perhaps it's different with a 32 or 64 bit OS.

Yes, I am sure. I already tried it. And the suggestion Hagar had of creating a texture folder for those that did not have one, appeared to work, until you tried to load the scenery in the sim.

I think that is exactly it Doug. I think a lot of scenery is simply not compatible with a 64 bit system running windows 7. There may be a solution, I hope there is, but it may take a while for someone a lot smarter than me, to find it. Reminds me of something I had completely forgotten about. Years ago, I had a Chuck Yeager game and when I got the next generation of computer it would not run. The same was true for a golf game. Well, that is not completely accurate. It would run, but it ran so fast you could not use it. Think of trying to land a Christian Eagle or Pitts S2C on a carrier, with sensitivity set at max, at 64x from the spot view. Large improvements in technology in a very short time are not always good.
